Country music...
What are some of your favorite country songs?
I like a lot of the "old school" stuff. My most favorite song has to be by The Judds - Grandpa.

Re: Country music...
Kenny Chesney, Trace Adkins, and many others. But my favorite song right now is Jason Aldean's Amarillo (sp?) Sky, reminds me of a friend of mine that was killed outside of a bar last year in Mid-August. He was a farm boy who wouldn't hurt a fly and ended up being beat with a hammer outside a bar down the road. Wrong place, wrong time...he was passed out outside on a picnic table when some kids tried to rob the bar. May he RIP.

Re: Country music...
I actually like some country; I dislike much of the pop-like stuff though.. it seems too contrived and, well, pop-like. :) I love southern rock though, and there is some newer stuff I like; that one some You Save Me (think it's Kenny Chesney?) Is really beautiful..

I am going to see Kenny Chesney in concert on May 31! I don't have a certain song I really like but I love Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson.

Re: Country music...
He's coming to the Fairgrounds this year. I'll be there!

Re: Country music...
ew, country. well okay, there are a few country songs i like that came out in the late nineties--that was the only time in my life that i really listened to country, and that was because the place i worked played it 24-7 and i had no choice. after the original torment i got to like it for a while.
i never listen to it now unless i'm scanning radio stations and one of those songs is on--i stop momentarily and sing along and my husband gapes in awe (because i usually scream and cringe if he pauses on a country station :P). i think it isn't even the songs that i like, but just remembering old times. not that they were great times or anything, but it was just a very different place in my life than where i am now.

Re: Country music...
Not fast enough, not hard enough and pretty hard to headbang to a fiddle solo. :O :D

Re: Country music...
I'm definently a metalhead 99% of the time, but one band that I hate to like is the Dixie Chicks. LOL

Re: Country music...
It's really pathetic, my itunes playlist jumps from Rammstein and Children of Bodom to Dixie Chicks and Johnny Cash.
I do like Johnny Cash, he's a bit more respectable than the Dixie Chicks. :P

Re: Country music...
Kenny and Tim are my two favorites, but the song that bounces around my head is Ol' Red, by Blake Shelton. Another song is Watching You, by Rodney Atkins, reminds me of my dad and me.
I never liked country until i went to college and in the words of Trace Atkins "
it was like you sang those songs about me and who I am, they're all just songs about me."

Sounds like me! Add Depeche Mode, Cradle of Filth, Concrete Blonde, Slayer, the Beatles, and Type O Negative..

Re: Country music...
I agree Mike. One of the many reasons I really like country music... I can relate to a lot of the things they sing about.... the stories and meanings their songs hold. A lot hit home with me.

Re: Country music...
Even if you're a metalhead and lover of dark/evil music, you can still love country.. the song "Brimstone Rock" by 16 horsepower comes to mind.. creeepy yet has that country twang.. that is actually my favorite type of music (that and melodic/industrial metal.)

so you kicked you man to the curb, jumped in your truck and moved right on with your hot self letting no man keep you down? told his lying cheating heart to get out, put on your boots and went dancin'--just you and the girls, lightin' up the town? :giggle:

Yea, even though i am from CT and it isn't typical country area. I did grow up next to a farm with a few hundred cows that we had to help find when they got out, playin out in the woods, and my parents brought me up to be respectful, and happy with whatever life deals me, and just growin up in a small town helps me to relate.

Re: Country music...
Don't forget about the truck breaking down and the dog leaving you too. haha, I am a hard rock/metal fan, but I'm not ashamed to liking country too. It definitely hits home on a few different levels...anyone saw my thread about Donkey Basketball? haha, see what I mean? jeesh

I knew there was something I liked about you girl! (well other than your a really nice person and you breed great snakes and make pies to freakin die for that is LOL)
I grew up on country music. My family, as hick as this sounds, had a band for awhile and I have so many, many good memories of the family and country music binding us all together. Some songs bring tears, some bring laughs, most just bring warm memories of a time long gone but never forgotten (sounds like a country song doesn't it). :) For a long while I didn't listen to country but Randy Travis and The Judds brought me home to my roots. No a day doesn't go by that I'm not listening to some country song or other though I still have a very diverse love of all sorts of music.
