How often to feed..

Since I've owned snakes when I was young till now.. I have always fed my snakes on a weekly basis, once a week to be exact!.. I'm curious how often people feed their snakes here. Like sometimes you hear people feeding their snake twice a week hoping to get their snake larger in a shorter period of time. Does this work or does this cause complications for the snake? A breeder once told me that truly you can never feed them enough.. I tend to not believe that.. but then again I'm just using logic and thinking I'm right but I can be completely wrong... Any thoughts?

I feed mine once per week as well. I've always been under the impression that as long as all husbandry issues are proper, the snake will eat if it wants to, and if it doesn't it simply won't.

BTW my little guy just downed his first small rat the other day. Took it like a champ!

my 06 male bp gets an adult mouse every 5 days

my 6 month old male gets a mouse every 5 days

but when his growth slows down later on I will feed less often. snakes can become obese so careful monitoring is important.

I don't have an exact feeding day, but it's usually every 7-10 days. You can tell when they're hungry when they're lurking around their cage. :P

Every seven days for my ball python. My gopher snake gets fed every 2-3 weeks, because that's all that he'll eat.

I believe 8Ball Adam has documented that over feeding, "Power feeding" as it's known as, will result in a long period of fast. Meaning, your ball will take what's offered to him/her but will eventually go off feed to allow it's body to "catch up". Please correct me if i'm wrong.

I feed all of my ball pythons one meal per week. Depending on size, they may get more than one prey item in a single feeding.

I feed my female hatchlings 2 small meals a week until they hit around 800g then I cut them back to 1 meal a week. This seems to usually keep them from going off feed. I have found that if I continue with 2 meals a week for much longer than 800g they will totally stop feeding for 1-2 months. I do feed breeder females a little more for about a month prior to cooling. For males I only feed 1 meal a week regardless of age or size.

I feed mine once a week usually, except for when he's shedding, which i've only encountered once so far. I didn't see him for a couple of weeks so i fed him 1, then 2 or 3 days later he looked hungry so i put one in there and he got it within seconds, so i figured he was pretty hungry. But yeah i usually do it once every week, no exact day.

No matter the age, baby or adult, all of mine are fed once every seven days.
