Need Help

I really want a BP did my research Im 16 and now my mom is saying no because she thinks it could get out, and possibly eat my sugar glider and I need some advice to change her mind. She is also very scared that it could just get out in general. She grew up in a petstore that my grandpa owned and they sold exotic reptiles I have pics of cobras and andacondas but she said that she had to feed them when she was 6 yrs old and now she is just parinoid. Any advice?????

I would advise you to research the animal alot. If you can clearly show to your mother that you are very interested in a harmless animal, then you might have a better chance. Also, shop around on the internet there are tons of cages with locks.....a locked cage might be what is needed to put your mom at ease.

I think if you can get a locking cage, show your mother you've done your research as well as joined a great forum where you will get tons of support and information, that you are prepared to cover any costs for food, housing, vet, etc. and that you have a plan for the years ahead (for instance if you go to college, what happens to the snake?)...that sort of thing. Parents are always more willing to listen to their kids when those kids have a well thought out plan rather than just "I want this!" sort of thing.

Congrats...now just make sure you prove you were right in its care. Post some pictures as soon as you can.

Ideally you should have the cage set up and running for a few days to monitor humidity and temps.
