yea she had blisters and a screamin' red bellie, all the blisters are gone now and the red bellie is white again. All that remains is the dry brown skin where the blisters were.

Yea shes a breeder at 2500 grams and sweet as a lamb.

A thermostat gave out, spike the flexwat(melted the plastic around the flex watt) and fried her bellie. I was lucky it was just her and I caught it when I did. The rack it gave out on was all my breeder females. Thats why its so important to check them every day boy and girls.

I'm kind of a newbie here, do all of these snakes get that big? I just bought mine a couple days ago, it's pretty young and small.

Looking forward to it!! SO glad to hear that she's healing up just fine after such a trauma. So much tragedy can come from a faulty t-stat. Makes one realize how little the cost really is for the highest quality, and a back-up even for that!

I tell you what the 129.00 for the thermostat is well worth having a healthy happy growing female come October for my spider male. I'll get some pics up as soon as shes done, hopefully this Friday I see all milky white bellie.

Did you really mean 8000g? I have a few big females (one that is 12 years old) but 8000g seems like a lot to me. My biggest female is only 4000g and she is actually a little overweight.

I am not doubting that there is a 8000g ball python. The part that got me thinking is when you said "Most of the females will hit that size easily". I don't think that is true at all. I would say an 8000g female is a pretty rare find.

I think he meant the snake in the picture...most females reach THAT size pretty easily. ;)

    sorry for the confusion.

Well Judy heres the news and pic you've been waiting for. She was burned on Feb. 16 and now no March 23-24 she finished shedding and this is the result. No blisters, no scars, just a clear white belly and a great attitude

    She looks great Ed,

I'm glad she healed up so well for you. How long had you been using the dbs1000? How many watts of flex was it powering? Just curious since I use the some thermostat.

Way to cheer me up - this is the only brand readily avialable in scotland for years (look familiar?). mind you I have some of them that have been working fine for almost 8 years.

    https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil...DIMMERDN72.jpg

The only alternatives I can find aren't dimmers (proportionals).
Hopefully there are some more kinds for me to discover out there.

A thermostat going out and spiking is rare. Normaly when they go out they quite heating and not spike. You should be fine.
