mike wilbanks got robbed and shot some people. crazy story. mike deffinatly has the biggest balls. hahaha. :rockon:

i guess the people knew nothing about the snakes in the back.

How sad that it involved such young teenagers. We just had a Toledo police officer shot and killed on duty last night (the first in over 35 years) by two young men...19 and 15 (the 15 year old is still at large and seems to have been the shooter). What a waste of an officers life and in both these cases the waste these young men have created of their own lives. :(

All testosterone aside, my heart goes out to Mike, his family, and Mikes employee who's life was threatened.

Criminal or not, I'm sure that Mike isn't laughing over potentially taking someones life and will have some hard times ahead struggling with the reality of what happened in his shop.

I just seen that on the news, Jo. Thats insane, and right down the street from my Aunts house.

I agree Adam. It isn't going to be easy dealing with this, and was probably one of the hardest decisions he had to make.

If you look at the news video around 1:08, you see the two guys in darker clothing standing in front of the glass that Mike shot out of, while the guy at the register still had his gun drawn and was being handed money from the clerk at the register. As soon as you see the shots fired, the guy at the register turns and runs. The clerk at the register should thank his lucky stars that the robber with the gun reacted by running away, and not pulling the trigger on the clerk.

The reality of it is probably just barely starting to settle in now...situations like that could have gone the other way just as fast.

i have talked to some people who have talked to mike and they say he is happy and proud that he was able to hold his own and protect his employes.

I don't think this is a laughing matter or something that should be taken lightly. I am sure his employee isn't laughing about it and probably won't for a long time. I would bet Mike isn't laughing about it either.

I'm not sure what your point is, but this crud really doesn't need to be here ... this thread is about a very serious thing that happened to a great memeber of the ball python community ... I think we should try to keep the focus on well wishes and prayers for Mike and his family ... Thanks.

God bless Mike and his family. I met him in daytona and he is a great guy, sold me an orange ghost and was very helpful. My prayers go out to him, his family and employees. I hope they move on without recourse.

There's just been so much crud going on lately, I guess it's getting to me. I just want to keep things positive here and sooo many people are making things personal and ugly.

But that's not what this thread is about ... It's about the horrible tragedy that has happened to one of our own ... Again, my thoughts and prayers go out Mike, his family, and his employee.

Thanks..I was being sincere. This violence has to stop...

My prayers are with Mike and everyone envolved. I find it hard to come into work some mornings after a bad day, but I know it would be 100x worse after experiencing someone enter the workplace with a gun.

The two that were shot were only 16 and 17. It is a shame that kids will throw their lives away over a few dollars. You future is priceless.....money is just money.

Thank god the situation ended up the way it did and no lives were lost.

Lets just all say a prayer that Mike or his employees or anyone working at the store was not hurt, thank God.

As for the punks who came in there and stuck a gun in there faces, well they get what they deserve. When someone makes a choice to use a gun and stick it in someoens face while threating their life or property then they get what ever comes there way. it is a harsh reality of what can happen when you make those choices.

Thankfully for Mike things didn't go bad as can happen when we tend to take the law into our on hands. That being said I would have done the same thing and shot their butts also. It is sad that life has come down to these things for people out there just trying to make a living and live their lives.

Something in this for all of us to learn and think about. Life is fragile and comes with no guarantee's.

Perhaps the laws of OK are in the same general area that of CO - "Make my day law" - It's legal out here to use deadly force "guns ok" to shoot and kill anyone whom may enter your household, business, or threatens your life or that of your families as well period.

The law out here is now passing this on the carjackers as well - I think if I read the initial story as posted this morning, that Mike Wilbanks shot for these boy's heads and missed due to the one way mirrors, but still got 2 of them.

While yes this could have turned out very tragic from one's point of view, those boys could have, and should have been shot dead period, as they brought that stage of their life to themselves by their own actions.

Is it correct to post that this initial posters intentions were to make a joke of this ? - I don't think so at this point - You got balls enough to break into my business, home, vehicle, or threaten my well being or that of my family - Than I have the balls to look this person in the eyes and shoot them dead "Legally", and sleep well at night - 9@my side - 12G under the bed :rockon:

I think it was more of a testerone type comment, than making a joke out of the situation - perhaps Matt can clear that up for us all - Sometimes people read into things differently than others, and text is mistaken out of concept from what it was meant to be...

i was simply posting that i was pleased everything worked out for Mike and his team and that the bad guys will think twice about pulling a stunt like that again! I am glad things worked out for Mike and we're not all typing how he or one of his employees will be missed! As for the robbers, they got what they deserve when they picked up a gun to take what was not theirs and threaten the lives of innocent people!

Wow that had to be a pretty hairy situation! Sounds like he did what he felt was nessesary to preserve lives including his own. Any man who has stood in the face of evil and attempted to divert it from the innocent is King in my book!

Wow! How scary would that be! I would have let them take the money but I am a scaredy cat I guess. I hope Mike and his employees and family are all okay. That would be quite traumatizing...
