    Look at what I found!!!!
    Hey
Look at what I found this morning... :carrot: :fest:
It was totally unexpected... I've only had her 3 weeks, and I had a vet appionted lined up for this Wednesday, because I couldn't get her to eat..
I have fired up an incubator, but I am hoping that she will do all the work for me, but if not, I WILL NEED YA'LLS HELP.. how long until the eggs hatch, humidity levels, temps... which is better maternal incubation or should I just mark and pull them...

I have not moved her, so I have no idea how many she had...

I bought her from a guy who had to get rid of her and three others.
I called the man today, and he said that his son sold the wrong one to me, that one was supose to go to his daughter in FL. But she was bred with his larger male...

I wouldn't expect her to just "do all the work" for you... if you decide to let her maternally incubate, you should read up on it first to find out what kind of conditions she needs in her enclosure to pull it off.

    That is awsome

I would recomend putting the eggs in an incubator, its less stress on the mother and will give her time to recover.

I was checking in on her today and she has gotten eggs wrapped so tight that I couldn't even see them.. The temp is at 88 degrees and Humidity is about 75-80%.
If I pull the eggs, how do I need to approach it. For one, do you think that she is going to nail me (so far she has not tried to), but how do I go about pulling her without damaging the eggs?
At what temps do I need to have the incubator (by the way, it is a home made... 36" tall refrig, with a 2 1/2 gal aquir. full of water and a subsersible heater) I have had it up to 93 (middle of Refrg) degrees in there, but I need to know what I need to have it set for her eggs. I imagine that the humidity is right at 100% because everytime I open the door I get a pretty good soaking.
I do not want to pull the eggs until I have everything set up they way it needs to be...
I can't seem to find a sheet on what I should do.

If you want to do maternal incubation, here is an extremely helpful (and long) thread:

    http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...nal+incubation

I found it utterly fascinating and personally, for a variety of reasons, I would probably use maternal incubation if it were me. Supposedly it's harder on the mother, but then, it's hard on a human mother to nurse and then raise her own kids too--but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want to do it! LOL

(I know, snakes aren't people, they aren't even mammals and so on and so forth... but I still think the mother would probably prefer to incubate her own eggs, and personally I would want to let her do it if at all practically possible).

By the way: CONGRATULATIONS! What a fabulous surprise! :D

Re: Look at what I found!!!!
What I do is have my incubator set to 89 degrees, and make sure that's the temp inside the egg box, not just inside the incubator. I use plastic shoe boxes for egg containers and put NO holes in them. The lid is loose enough for air exchange and holes in the box just dry it out faster. I Use a digital indoor/outdoor thermometer with a long probe and put the probe inside the box. (and ultimately right on top of the eggs) Make sure the temp is stable. It's best to have the incubator running several days at least (several weeks would have been better) to make sure the temps aren't jumping around. My digital thermometer has a min/max memory function so I can tell what the highest and lowest temps have been though the day. I check the thermometer EVERY day. When I'm satisfied that the incubator is the way I want it, I put a towel over the female, then reach under the towel and start unwrapping her from the egg mass tail first. When I have the egg mass in hand, I weigh the mass and mark it down on a sticky label, along with the number of eggs, the famales name and the male that she was bred too. I put this sticky label on the lid of the egg box. I make a little depression in the egg substate inside the egg box and lay the egg mass in this depression This substrate is a mixture of perlite, vermiculite and water that I mix up in a bucket ahead of time, I don't weigh anything I just use equal amounts of the perlite and vermiculite and add water until it feels about right. When you squeeze a handful of this mix and get only a few drops of water, it's about right. I have the egg boxes WITH the incubation substrate set up in the incubator already for days before adding eggs. Then, just wait 60 days and collect baby snakes.... It's not too hard.
