Looking for Leucistic Texas Rat NJ
Hey everyone. New to the forum! I am currently looking to adopt a female Leucistic Texas Rat Snake. I am located in North/Central New Jersey. Willing to answer any/all questions. Would appreciate any Helpful sources to find one in my area. I am still trying to get familiar with this site so forgive me if there is a breeder page I am not seeing.
If you have any info or have one/many for adoption please let me know!
Thanks

Re: Looking for Leucistic Texas Rat NJ
Are you ONLY looking for adoption? Cuz I hope you don't have your hopes up cuz there arn't people just waiting desperately for someone to take their Leucy Rat. And if you're looking for a quality animal, be ready to pay cuz you dont want to get stuch with something thats gonna cost more in vet bills than jsut buying a healthy one. I have a local pet store i visit regularly (including tomarrow if the weather isnt bad) that is selling 2 at $79.99. I'm not sure what a decent price is on these but maybe aiming for that might help. Good luck on your hunt!

Re: Looking for Leucistic Texas Rat NJ
WOW. Well please don't get me wrong. I didn't state I was looking for a free snake did I? Especially if I was looking for a breeder..... I use the word adoption because I don't like saying I bought an animal like they are just an object I will be throwing on a shelf. I consider myself adopting them even though I pay a fee/price what have you. Lets not throw words into my fingers here mmmk? I know about vets being I am an X assistant, and money wasn't an object here so I don't know why it was brought up. Maybe I should have stated I was willing to pay? but I thought that was a given.
I am not familiar with how to work the site so I am not sure how I look up a person or email them by their user ID. Someone also mentioned a pet store, Could you please tell me where or what store in what state you are speaking of? I am not big on pet stores because of health issues but I wouldn't mind rescuing one either.
Thanks
Skyn
And thanks for the welcome :taz:
Oh and I will be calling you. I would like to talk with you Crystal and hopefully be put on a list. Thanks

Skyn, dont be offended here as you did say "adopt" and inturn members here think you want a "free" or low "fee" snake. If you want to PM(personal message) a member here click on the user name and a screen will drop down and you click on send private message(AKA PM).You will have no problems if you "adopt" (buy) a LTR from Crystal as she is a trusting member here.I hope this helps you

Re: Looking for Leucistic Texas Rat NJ
Ok... but isn't that usually what you do? Adopt an animal from breeders? When the young are ready they are up for adoption..? At least thats what I have done in the past. Most of the breeders I know care for their animals and don't just "sell" them to anyone. I guess I just don't like the purchase word. I suppose next time I should state this differently? I mean I did after all mention breeders, I would have to be pretty clueless to think a breeder would just give me one. :) I didn't feel thats how I came off but to each their own. No offense taken ( hope I didn't offend either) I just wish people didn't assume so quickly. Perhaps next time a simple " are you willing to pay a fee/price, or how much are you willing to spend" might be better off is all... agreed? Have a good night and thanks again for the help. :D

Re: Looking for Leucistic Texas Rat NJ
Skyn, most,if not all breeders consider adopt and buy two completely different things. But, ok. It's all good. in the spring, when eggs are laid, upon your request, I can put you on my waiting list and contact you...it worked quite well, as the babies went super fast! just PM me and I'll get your info.

Well in the past we have had some people come here and want anything free they could get.Majority(myself included) have responded to them and a few got pretty rude because we questioned them. This might sound crazy to some but a few breeders have given snakes away free of charge for differant reason.I have given a corn snake away to raise money for a reptile rescue that had several reptiles hurt or killed. So it does happen:) .I have an idea since you dont like "purchase" maybe say i am "looking" for (whatever it might be) :) .

Well if you want a pet store, there is one I go to in Ames, IA thats called "The Ark Pet Shop". It's obvious you arn't going to drive there but maybe you could call and see if they ship. I have no idea if they do or not but the number is 515-292-4646. No much help I know but they do have two leucys in stock. Not sure on sex but if you wanna call, go for it.

Re: Looking for Leucistic Texas Rat NJ
Will do :) The breeders I have ... worked with if you will lol don't breed snakes. More furry exotics :)
I shall PM.
Thanks
I understand giving away an animal free to raise money for a rescue. In a way its not free though if you think about it eh? Maybe you don't see money but .. anyway I'm on your level its cool :)
*edit* Thanks Chase I think I am going to wait for spring and go on her waiting list. Sounds the safest bet so far. I wouldn't want to ship pet store snakes I can't see in person etc. I just don't trust many stores. Plus who knows what they will charge for who knows what I am getting heh. I appreciate the info though !! :D

Uhhhh, I'm not saying this place is a PETCO cuz its not. The guys breeds bp's, corns, milks, and others that I don't care to name. He also has alot of connections with alot of breeders. I was acually there when these leucys came in. They came in on saturday at about 6pm along with 1 GTP, a few bps, and 2 blazing blizzard geckos (one i already purchased and have made a thread on). The snakes came from a well respected breeder located in Kansas City MO. He breeds a variety of reptiles and he also owns the Kansas City Reptile Show which i will be attending March 11th. And he will be "charging" you $79.99 and if you mean you don't know what sex you will be getting, I never said they were unsexed, i only said i didn't know. I can understand you not wanting a snake you havn't seen in person or wanting to ship from here and i didn't expect you to acually call at all. But don't base your decision off of being a "pet store". All of the breeders on this forum that post threads with what they have available and their websites are doing what this guy is doing. They are selling their animals out of their home and this guy has boughten property and has invested in advertising rather than doing it in his basement.

Re: Looking for Leucistic Texas Rat NJ
I didn't mean to put down that specific pet store. I didn't know you knew personally, I was more speaking generally. I apologize. I am not suggesting every pet store is bad either, No one can. Forgive me. I am probably stating everything in the wrong way on here. I can't help it we are online after all :( I'm also sick and not thinking correctly. I didn't mean to offend.
