Cardio much?
Music with a good beat can make an hour of working out fly by. I'm always looking for new music to add to my mp3 player!
Here's what my list looks like right now:
Kelis- Milkshake (Shamelezz Remix)
Sisqo- The Thong Song
They Might Be Giants- Older
Sarah Connor- Bounce
Black Eyed Peas- Hey Mama and My Humps
Front 242- O Fortuna
Justin Timberlake- Sexyback
Gwen Stefani- Hollaback Girl
Prince- Let's Go Crazy and *&^%^ Control
Shriekback- Nemesis
KMFDM- Juke Joint Jezebel
NIN- Burn
Sisters of Mercy- Temple of Love and This Corrosion
Madonna- Ray of Light and Like a Prayer Techno remix
Maroon 5- Harder to Breathe
Usher- Yeah
Couple of LOA songs I can't put here
For cooldown:
Seal- This Could be Heaven and Kiss From a Rose
Urge Overkill- Girl, You'll be a Woman Soon
Maria McKee- If Love is a Red Dress
Royksopp- Remind Me
So what's on your workout list? Or what do you like that you think would make good cardio music?

Suffocation - Demise Of The Clone
The Black Dahlia Muder - Miscarriage
Dismember - Questionable Ethics

Re: Cardio much?
I know it's going to sound really lame, but I don't usually listen to music during workouts, or ever... Occasionally I get the urge to listen to music, but not normally.
I listen to audio books most of the time, whether I'm driving in my car, walking to class or spending an hour on the elliptical. Right now I'm listening to "Song of Susannah" -- a Stephen King book in the "Dark Tower" series.
When I'm taking a cardio class, on the other hand--I like that there's music to get my blood pumping. But any semi-mindless activity during which my mind would usually wander (driving, walking to class, using machines at the gym...), I like listening to audio books.

That's me, too. I'm always listening to talk radio or audio books if I can. Music is great somewhere in the background, but only if my mind is otherwise occupied. My problem is that I can't stand the earbuds from MP3 players...or really any headphones at all. Having sound pumped directly into my ears from point-blank range (no matter what the volume setting) is a huge annoyance for me. A phone is ok because one ear is still "free"...but I've yet to find a set of headphones that sits comfortably on my ear without falling off with every shift or movement. Which makes working out anyplace but my own living room (where I can listen to radio or play CD's) dreadfully boring.

Whoo, Vomitore, are those all speed metal songs? I think I might run so fast my heart would burst! lol
Kim, I don't think that's lame, my husband does the same thing. And *nothing* will make a road trip more enjoyable than audio books!

Do wearing ear plugs bother you, too? The head phones that sit on my ears I find really uncomfortable, and the ear buds never seemed to fit right, and I'd have to turn the volume up WAY too loud to block outside noise.
I did find Shure headphones, as they were suggested to me by my boyfriend. They're pricey (at $99 for the cheapest pair), but I love them to death. They come with three different "sleeves", in small, medium and large (the sleeves are hard plastic, soft plastic and foam).
These headphones sit -inside- your ear canal and act as ear plugs--isolating the sounds from the headphones and blocking out a lot of the background noise going on. The plastic sleeves bothered my ears, but the foam ones are SO comfortable--and they don't fall out of my ears. And I can listen to my audio books with a LOT less volume, because the headphones act like ear plugs and blot out the outside interference.

Yeah....anything stuck in my ears bugs me like crazy. Just reading your description of the ones you like makes me shudder. LOL I wouldn't mind giving them a try...but at that price, that'd be quite a gamble. :(

I totally agree that it'd be a gamble. It was a gamble that worked out for me ;) Until, of course, I ran over the cord on the rowing machine and it ate through the rubber covering to the wires... I've covered it with electrical tape, and so far, so good. $100 head phones ruined at the gym less than a year after buying them would be sad.

Trust me, when I put on Slayer's "Reign In Blood" album it's a 29 minute album that from start to finish will have you racing like a madman. I used to bike at full speed all the time to that album. My legs are incredibly strong, but when I biked all the time, I'd have body builder guys tell me "Man, I wish I had your calves!"

Re: Cardio much?
How about Take on Me by A-ha or Crawling by Linkin Park? Those two songs just popped in my head for some reason. (my head is a scary place)
-
Re: Cardio much?
I pretty much listen to the radio (hip-hop/Rap station) on somedays but most of the time its the African Hip Hop (specifically music from Uganda) on the Ipod. Just something about that african hip hop thats get you pumping.:)

Re: Cardio much?
LOL! Sarah, I have Sexyback on my IPod too! It's my shame song as I like to call it. I also have Shakira - Hips Don't Lie, and a live recording called Bamboo that I like alot. Evanesence and Nickelback, and also another guilty pleasure reserved for workouts is almost anything by Black Eyed Peas!

Re: Cardio much?
When I was training for the Great Race, besides listening to "Eye of the Tiger" and other songs from Rocky I use to listen to "The Touch" from the original Transformers movie.
But ask me to sing it and I probably sound more like this.......
I dont run much anymore.....my flat feet prevent me from pursuing the sport any more.

Mine are fine for awhile but then OUCH! I used to golf a lot with my uncle and one day I tore something and man, I still went golfing and probably made my feet worse. But it's all in good fun and my feet have been rather well ever since.

What about a finger?
I listen to a little bit of everything. I need music otherwise I can't even think about working out. Dave Matthews live stuff, Disturbed, No Use For A Name, Metallica...

Yup, biker's have awesome legs. When I first met Jeff, his legs were built up from blading. Yum!
Heh, Christie, Take On Me actually was on my list for a while. I have a high turnover rate, since I run almost every day. I haven't had Crawling, though, thanks for the suggestion!
Aric....Hmmm, anything good in that genre you would suggest? I think the closest I have right now is Afro Celt Sound System
Haha Wendy, I always swore I would never have any Timberlake on my player, but the non-radio version of Sexyback really gets me moving! I have Hips Don't Lie, but I don't really like the version I have. It's a little slow. I'm not sure what Bamboo is, I'll look that one up!
Oh, have you heard the acoustic version of Freak on a Leash that Amy Lee (Evanescence) did with Jonathon Davis? It's really cool.

Ha, that's probably what I sound like every time I go to karaoke!
Rocky definitely has some great inspirational music.
Ooooh, Jamie, which songs from Disturbed and Metallica do you like to work out to?

Re: Cardio much?
I just got back from jogging/running for an hour to the rhythm of the album "Ashes of the Wake" by a good christian folk band named Lamb of God. They sure get to your soul when you need it.

Re: Cardio much?
Current list is no where as heavy as it used to be, but it gets me through my workouts...
Pantera - 10's
Metallica - Of Wolf and Man
Metallica - The God that Failed
Metallica - My Friend Misery
Slow Roosevelt - Boys lie girls steal
Heavy D, Tyrese - Criminal Mind
Dre, Snoop - Still Dre
T.I. - Ride with me
T.I. - What you know about that
.
.
.
And a few other "exotic" ones.

Heh, Mike and I would be a blast at the gym together. :weirdface
Raj, good choices! I think I'll add a couple of those to my list this week. Ooooh, and I like "exotic" stuff too, now you have me curious.

High-energy Arabic/Egyptian/Indian music is really neat. Drums and flutes and awesomeness--I don't have any currently or know some "good" groups.... but I used to have a "belly dance mix" I would listen to that was really awesome. It was random stuff I downloaded when I looked up "belly dance" on Limewire...before I learned that torrents were the way to go :)

Re: Cardio much?
When I am feeling down and I have to clean the barn, I put my stereo speakers out the house window and blast all my Nine Inch Nails CDs on shuffle. But if A Warm Place comes on, I need to take a break b/c that some will put me to sleep!
Try KMFDM to get you moving, too!
-
Re: Cardio much?
Kim, oooooh cool, I'll have to try to find some of that. I looked into belly dancing classes in my area yesterday, too. I can go to the local rec center for $37 for 4 classes, or I can go to this lady: Sa'diyya.
I think hers are $13 per class, and it's a 20-25 minute drive from me, but I'm thinking that would be the better class to take. I'm totally excited about it!
Jen, I have some NIN and KMFDM in my list, are there some songs you find make you dance around more than others? My husband has been a KMFDM fan since before I met him and has all their cd's, so I could get any song! lol
My daughter, who is in her second year of HS German, also loves them.

Re: Cardio much?
I also love Conjure One's self titled album. More of a driving in the rain kinda music. :)

Mostly Greek/Indian/Arabic stuff. Also check out Paul Oakenfold.
-
Re: Cardio much?
Oh, I adore Indian/Arabic music (and food!). I'm not sure I've heard any I could work out to, but I'm willing to try anything.
I have tons of Paul Oakenfold in my music database, I'll listen to some and see if I like it. Thanks! :)
