    Patch on head
My snake has a small patch on the top of his head just back from and midway between his eyes it looks like a scab, I noticed what looked like a sore spot there about a week ago but he had just had a very patchy molt at the time so I thought it was some retained skin. Does anybody have any ideas what it could be?

Hard to say without being able to see it. Could be a patch of dried, retained skin. Could be a patch of new scales that are dry. (My bp occasionally has a few specks of grayish colored scales after a shed, but they're not retained skin...just new skin that is dryer than normal)

Could be a scab from an injury...but if so, how did the injury get there? Rodent bite? Burn? Cage rub?

Can you imagine anything in the enclosure he could rub on and catch himself hard enough to break the skin? :confuzd:

A little patch of grayish colored scales though, is probably totally normal. Does he still have a sore? Was it in the exact same spot as the off-colored scales, or just near it?

If it looks kinda like a scab/crease/crack on the head give the snake a good soak and check your humidity levels.

Was it possibly noticed right after his last shed? One of mine shed and a head scale came with the shed and left a raw spot (it was one of the snakes I rehabbed and sold to HadesBP on here.) In another few sheds he was back to normal.
