Big shoutout to Adam!! Thanks again fro this beautiful ball with such a great appitite!
This rat had some freezer burn on it...It wont hurt her will it?
Thanks for looking.
Re: My Maryland Ball with a 'tude
justin, give that snake some food! she's pissy because your giving her a snack, not a meal!:D
she looks like she could go to a crawler rat, a bit bigger than a pup(eyes just ready to open).
she's too big for pinks, imo.

Re: My Maryland Ball with a 'tude
I am!! She gets 2 for now, untill I can get her some crawlers. Thanks,Vaughn!
Re: My Maryland Ball with a 'tude
Too bad you don't live near me Justin, I've got tons of lovely crawler/fuzzie rats right now, far more than our four 06's can snarf down. That's okay though, the bigger and older snakes are in for a treat as this crew mature into bigger feeders. Lovely snake!
Re: My Maryland Ball with a 'tude
Freezer burn won't hurt her. The only issue with freezer-burned prey is that it can make the animal smell different and a snake may refuse. Obviously not an issue with yours. ;)
Re: My Maryland Ball with a 'tude
I got a 2 month old in October and he is eating small rats right now! Bump up the size of your prey.
Re: My Maryland Ball with a 'tude
Rock on Justangs :gj:
She's really pretty and looks like she's growing like a weed :D

A small rat for a BP that's not even close to a yearling yet may be going a bit overboard. Bumping up prey for Justin's snake from a pinkie rat to a fuzzie rat is very appropriate but there's something to say for not going too far too fast and too big on a weekly prey item.

I think you missed the point of frankykeno's reply...a small rat is too big for a six month old ball...small rats are appropriate for an adult though...

I know. I got it! I was talking to the other guy.
Saying that Adam feeds small rats to big girls..and your feeding small rats to a yearling.
Re: My Maryland Ball with a 'tude
I agree with bumping up your prey size... if you think she is growing now, just wait until you are feeding her larger meals. I started my first post-shed hatchlings on rat pinks, and within a few weeks they were ready for older rats. Keep a close eye on when your baby is capable of bumping up a size and she'll grow nice and fat for you. :)
