    corns and changed prey items
so... i also gave my eldest corn snake a rattie pup (3 weeks old) today and he took it no problem. had problem killing it... he let it go and it started breathing again so he watched it for a bit and finished it off. took it down no problem.

so... can i transfer the younger ones as well? will they go back and forth like boas do... eating whatever is offered or are they more like a ball python... once i feed them ratties, they'll only eat them from now on?

Aleesha,my adult breeders are eating weaned rat pups(male) and the females get rat crawlers(about 2 weeks+ age) and it shows in the growth. My corn snakes will eat frozen(joking here) frozen thawed and live they DONT care its food lol.

Interesting question Aleesha, and well timed. We are actually going to offer Beth's yearling milksnake it's first rat pink tonight. Emi (the milk) has always had mice and is up to the hopper size so we are going to see if she'll take rat pinks as they are in constant supply around here. I'll let you know how it goes and if at some later point she'll accept a mouse again. I've always heard they aren't particularily picky eaters.

well i went ahead and gave valentino the smallest of the rattie pups we have right now. he spent quite a bit of time sniffing the air but once he decided it was dinner time... he went in for the squeeze.

now something i noticed... with both corns... is that it took them longer to squeeze the ratties. mice seemed to die quicker. anyone else ever notice this?

Yea it takes a little more squeeze to kill the rat(pink ,pup etc) but they will get the job done.Mice die just touching them lol.

Emi did NOT like the little rat pink...not one bit. Absolutely refused to have a thing to do with it LOL. It's no problem, she'll do fine on mice her whole life and she seems to prefer f/t over live so it's back to f/t mice for Miss Em.

Joanna, try to give her a frozen thawed rat pink.My creamsickle male is terrified of anything alive but chows down on frozen thawed rat fuzzies with ease.

K I'll give it a try Joe. I did try her once on an f/t rat pink and she did the "yewww ick what is THAT!" snake thing but I'll have to give it another shot at some point. If our mice group ever get around to breeding I'll have my own mice for her and the BP's that like mice. For now I'm still trotting off to the pet store for live mice for the BP's and a bag o mousicles for Miss Em. :)

Send some positive male vibes the way of that darn male mouse of mine please Joe. He may be the cutest black and white male mouse in creation but so far he's not getting his job done with the lady mice LOL.

LMAO! Well if you were closer i am having a mouse over population problem going on at this time :P .I have a full sandwich baggy in the freezer of mouse pinks and fuzzies(for the baby corns and the childrens python) and one female had 15 more last night.Matter of fact i am selling 70+ rat fuzzies today because they are also popping out left and right :P .If i had the money and room i could probably breed enough rodents to supply Illinois :8: ,each female rat averages 12 to 15 babies.

both corns could use some size on them... esp valentino since he had all the regurges last year.

so i'm hoping this will assist him to grow big and strong!
