I've never seen him do that before. I usually just throw in 2 or 3 rat pinks* and leave him be... come back in about 10 minutes and they are gone. Well I checked on him after about 10 minutes and that is what I found.
*He could easily take a large rat fuzzy with out a problem, but he seems scared of them - so I give him 2 or 3 rat pinks. Hopefully he'll move up in prey size soon.

Alison, that is a fun picture. Have you tried larger prey items? I don't know if you breed your own rodents, but it must take a lot of pinks to fill that guy up. Your snake looks big enough to be taking large hoppers or small adult mice. Hope I am not being too pushy, and this is only meant as a suggestion. Beautiful snake.
