Maybe something similar to the homozygous woma is going on with the homozygous spider?
Didn't they think that an adult pearl was imported a year or two ago? Did it go on to produce something resembling womas? It gave some hope that at least something like a pearl might be viable.

Equilibrium/motor skill control...have to be assist-fed...the Pearls unfortunately are weak animals that don't thrive.

How is the Lesser Pearl doing? Have not heard too much about that one lately....still the top morph out there on my list :)
