    MG Reptiles-not a good experience
Hey! We ordered a scale from Matt at the beginning of December. He kept saying he had sent it, but he never ended up sending it until the 21st. When it did arrive (New Years), it was the wrong scale. It turns out he didn't even have the type of scale that he was trying to sell. We recieved a partial refund, but didn't get the money back from sending him back the scale. We recieved a lot of excuses from him and he never seemed to get to the point and actually answer our questions. Not a good experience.

On the other hand, we recieved a great Scale from Reptile Basics. Rich has great service and ships really fast! Thanks Rich!

Not the least bit shocking. Matt hasn't graced bp.net with his presence since 12/1/06 so it looks like he has officially moved on. Rich is a super guy and you will never go wrong ordering from him.

Is there anyone other than MG and reptile basics out there that sell flex. I had a issue with Reptile basics and am not really sure I wish to go back and the feedback I have heard about MG makes me not want to start dealing with them.

Did you call Rich and speak to him about your problem? I have heard zero complaints about Rich's customer service.

From my experience I would be shocked if Rich didnt fix your problem and make you happy. I have bought a TON of stuff online, reptile related or not, and honestly I have never run into someone as quick and good as Rich. He is the epitome of small-business-internet store when it comes to answering his cell when you call it, and even running out to ship a package for you immediately if you are in a rush.

Believe it or not, Im not paid to say this :) He is just that good. Some more info is needed here for sure.

My experience with Matt at MG reptiles was a good one. He did take a little longer to ship than expected, but not outrageously long. Even with a product that was out of stock it took him about 2.5 week to get my order out. I think people are a little too quick to act with negative feedback on MG Reptiles.

I really am not going to go into it. He seemed like a really nice guy. He even sent out a replacement order next day air but it was wasnt right. Then I got short and he got short so thats where I would like to leave it. I was just asking if there was any other suppliers out there.

    Again!

Well, it has been a while since there has been an unhappy customer (at least a month).

So much for Matt changing his ways and letting people know he doesn't have something or for trying to make the customer happy when he makes mistakes.

Sad. I have had good experiences with Matt but then again, it was before the recent wave of unhappy people.

You should post this on the BOI.

I've ordered from them a couple of times and have had excellent service. I believe they're in Oregon, so shipping time to us Westcoasteners is probably a little quicker.

I've been waiting 2-3 weeks now with no answers as to if my order went out. I sent him an email saying either you let me know if I was billed and if the order went out by Monday the 29th OR consider my order canceled and I'll take my money elsewhere.
Either way, I won't be using Matt again

I ordered from Matt 2 MG a few feet of Flex Watt, some connetors, and a few misc. things. First off, it was not shipped when he "said" it was. It got to me late, about 1.5 weeks late. And then when i finally got it....One, I had to give the mail man 10 bucks cause Matt shorted me on the shipping, and it turned out to be the wrong Flew Watt.

Ugh....Never again will I order from MG Reptiles.

Ive also used ReptileSupply, they were great. Big Apple is great, but prices arent the best. Bean Farm is also great.

I've ordered directly from Dion at Spyder Robotics...really fast.

There was a thread some time ago when someone ordered from him and posted all the tracking information...they got the tstat in less than 36 hours or something crazy like that.

Now lets get back to our regularly scheduled programming. Yes its a repeat and an episode that continues to get a ton of play. Matt and his continued poor customer service. However, don't look to find him answering any threads here. He hasnt been to this site in a while. I know I like the look of that gold Reptile Basics banner at the top of this site much better anyway!:carrot:

I too, unfortunately, had a bad experience with Matt a while back. It's sad because at the time, he was the best out there and people recomended him left and right. I wonder that if he just got too many orders to keep up! Who knows, but I won't be ordering from him again either :(

Just have to chime in, I ordered both snakes and equipment from Matt at different times. Three orders total.
All of it went smoothly, all of it was shipped well, and in a timely manner. Matt was helpful, answered questions, and after the sale answered more phobic questions about setting up the thermostats.(I don't do well with some unfamilar technologies! LOL).
I'm not saying that all these people haven't had BAD experiances, but I had to weigh in on Matt's side since I've had THREE seperate GOOD experiances with him.

I am sorry to hear that others had have problems with Matt, and this now seems to be a recurring theme ..... :( Whether Matt "cares" about what is said on this forumn I don't know, but lets say I would rather deal with someone who others trust and addresses these issues instead of letting them linger on ....

well i ordered a herpstat, a esu power console and 2 strips of fully wired flexwatt(a two foot piece and a three foot piece). when it finally came in, the box had the herpstat and esu but the flexwatt was in two, three foot pieces.

i contacted him through email(because he will never return a call), and he told me he would send me a four foot strip on wednesday. this was maybe four or more wednesdays ago and i never heard from him since. i called shortly after that and not to my surprise he never called back.

i went to him because he is on this forum and i thought that i would support the bp.net community rather than go to a supplier that would get my order right and have the time to deal with me...

anyways just thought i should finally post my feedback with mgreptiles.

    thanks!

Working in a position where I have to provide costs to retailers - this is a big NO NO. And a lesson for anyone who sells anything.

    1. As the article says you cannot have ANY conversations with another seller about pricing
    2. Worse than a conversation is an email trail
    3. Worse than an email trail is having that email posted on a public website :colbert:

The FTC penelty is $1,000,000 per offense and 10 years in prison(for the person) and a $10,000,000 fine for the business. The government is VERY serious about this type of activity. Such that my company makes me go through mandatory legal training on this topic alone.

Re: MG Reptiles-not a good experience
Incidentally, Matt's claim is that he has NO current customer service issues. The threads at Fauna and here would prove that false. The customer service issues remain and in my opinion, Matt has ventured off the reservation. The bottom line is that if he had corrected the customer service issues over a year ago when they first started popping up, he would still have a reputation beyond reproach. Now he has resulted to insults, threats and general crazy behavior.

NOTE: Take my comments as you will. According to Matt, I will soon be served with legal papers. As much as I believe this to be false, I presume that his claim would include slander, libel or both. Its going to be a long, hard, expensive road for him to prove that my comments over the last year (all of which can be read here or on Fauna) have contributed to a loss of sales for MG Reptiles. Especially in light of his comments of the last couple of days in which he clearly states that his business is better than ever.
