feeding Kenyan Sand Boas

how often should you feed juveniles? adults?
I feed my juvy every 10-14 days...is this too often/too little.
What do you guys do on here?

I feed my girl every Sunday. She'd eat more but don't want to over do it ;)

I feed mine every Sunday as well.

Feed my adult male every 10 days.

All three of my sand boas are fed weekly.. two are subadults and one is an adult.

Speaking of which, is one of those that little "rescue" you took in to get feeding and if so, how is s/he these days? Off rat tails yet? =)

Most people feed their snakes once a week. Feeding him every 10-14 days will not hurt either.

Np. I just fed my girl a rat pup yesterday. Took her all of 10 seconds to poke her head out, see the rat, burrow and snag the rat from underneath. Thank god my grandma wasn't close cause the screaming rat woulda sent her over the edge.

My guy never comes out to look for food. I always have to dig him up and stick the food in his face.... if I didn't do that, his food would just lay there and rot away. (ask me how I know *gag*)

Haha one time that I fed Abbath (my bp) I left a live rat pup in there and the next day it died and MAN did that thing stink! Ugh!

I deal with that smell weekly at work. So so horrible! Nothing like a rat dieing and the snake covering it up with bedding OVER TOP of the heat panel.... give it about 4 days and you need a full mask to get that thing out. Or having a rat pup drown in the water bowl and bloat up for a good 24 hours. That will wake you up out of the worst sleepy fog you have ever been in.

Haha yeah that's where the pup died was right on the UTH. Man I walked in the room and WOAH what a stink!

That poor little one didn't make it. Always kept it's rat tails down, so I really don't know why she wasted away. Poor thing. My three sand boas are doing great, however. Chunkers.

I have a juvi sand boa about the same size as the one in your avatar...

Its being sort of picky when it comes to feeding it..

Took one pink first and second week I got it, went into shed and wouldnt take food for 3 weeks, now it hasn't ate in 8 days again and it didn't tonight when I tried the snake in a bag trick in its cage.

any hints to get this little girl to eat some more?

Oreo was/is REAAALLY picky about temps! If she grabbed and coiled, but then it cooled while "dying" then she'd let go and ignore it. I'd have to reheat it and get her to grab it again before she'd eat it.

When she was really little I fed her in a sep. shoebox tub and shined the red heat lamp inside. Now that she's older, if I know where she is, I make the bedding move and let her grab by poking her head out. Otherwise, I scoop for her and then feed her on the surface. I've had her a year, and can't call her an earthworm anymore :D but she's still only up to either mouse fuzzies, or smaller rat pinks.

just try the "mouse dance" that always works with mine...thats how i actually got him started on f/t
