Rat pups (3-4 week old rats) are the most they'll ever need their entire life! :D

Nice deal Daniel, I'm sure someone will snap that up!

He is a 'scaredy cat' ;) LOL...anything bigger than a rat pup (approx. 25-30 gram rat) and he will not eat. Some snakes are just like that...Larger sized meals intimidate them. Nothing wrong with that though....he is healthy, growing, and producing sperm plugs ;)

You should think about trying it...

I know its hard to get used to ... but once we scaled back the size of prey we have much more consistent feeders. Our Pied female is pushing 1000 grams, and she is just now moving on from what I would consider extra small pups. She has consistently added ~ 50 grams / month, and has never had a meal anywhere near her own girth. She has not skipped a meal since early September.

I know of breeders here that regularly feeds mediums and sometimes even larges (even 2 at a time!!!), and then wonder why they always have such inconsistent eaters.

    Just my :2cent: .... :)

I too feed smaller prey - Everyone feeds consistently, nobody skips a meal, and all are growing and putting on weight nicely

And that's a very beautiful pair by the way Daniel

These are their weights as of tonight:

Pastel Male - 652 grams (I was a bit off; however, he is empty and did not eat this week due to shedding)

Spider Female - 710 grams (she has one rat in her after her last empty weight)

My 2500 gram girl gets large rats...
600+ gram female gets small rats... 300grams in september
654 gram male pastel gets small rats... 232grams in october
300 gram female pastel gets jumbo mice... 200grams in november
and last but not least my het for pied (160 grams) gets rat pups.

Everybody has eaten for me without any hesitation since I've purchased them and they are growing like weeds. My male pastel and my 2500 gram girl are my 2 best eaters though... They don't waste any time when I drop their rat's with them.;)

This is how feed, I know my animals well. As a few have mentioned not every animal is the same so you just have to know what your animal takes and do what works for them. As long as they are healthy that's all that matters!

Once again Daniel those are a beautiful pair of snakes!
