    Love...
So, valentines day is coming up...what do you get a guy? I want to send my b/f something for valentines day, he is in the National Guard, and still in training, so food is not an option. I got him one of those giant cards, but im not sure what else i should get for him.

    ideas?

also, guys, what do you NOT like to get on valentines day? (like dads complain about ties on fathers day, etc)

    Thanks!!

I have an idea to make your Giant card more personal....do a photo collage on the inside of you and you and him together. That way if it is allowed he can tack it on the wall and he can show it off to everyone. Guys love to show off LOL
As far as what to buy him...I don't know him so couldn't make a guess. My husband is happy with a new x-box game or a new pocket knife for his collection.:)

permission to ignore the fact that valentine's day exists.

or if that's too much, beer and explosives will work.

i like the pic idea, he loves those Andes chocolates, i was going to send him a box of those, the card, and a nice picture framed with a magnetic thing on it so he can keep it in his locker.
I do show him i love him everyday, but i also like to have those special days where its really romantic, and Valentines day happens to be one of those days. :date:

amy, if i were in the armed forces and away from my wife and kids for valentines day i would just like a few pictures of them to remind me whats waiting for me when i get home, a nice letter from my wife(telling me whats waiting for me...lol) not so much a gift but just reminders of home that i would think keep my mind clear..

Avoid sending him anything in a brightly colored envelope of all things!!! Send it in a white envelope. You get smoked (IE: they make you do PT until your too worn out to even move). Believe me it stinks bad!!! It might suck not being able to, but you'll save his body some strain. I had that happen to me when I was at Ft. Leonardwood. Other than that, I'm sure even a letter would be nice. Letters help a ton while your in training since you don't have much else for communication other than a phone call every now and then, and you normally only get one call and for a whole 5 minutes.

He is in AIT, so he has more communication than in Boot Camp, he is aloud to use his phone at nights. He never got smoked for anything like that. i used to send him letters with kisses on them or something, the drill sargent would make some mean comments, but no punishment. If you get food or something, they will probably get you in trouble, but other than that they were pretty nice to him (or atleast nice for boot camp)
