Congratulations!!! I got two girls to start off with first too, and then waited until both were over 250 grams before I went searching for their well endowed boyfriend!

They're lots of fun, enjoy them! :)

Congrats on the ratties. There's tons of informative threads and stickies in the Feeder section to help you manage a breeder/feeder rat colony. :)

Congrats. More rats in our house means a surplus of food. A surplus of food means fat snakes and more snakes!!!

I have 4 rats as pets princess which look just like the last picture the cream and white and oreo the black head with white body cassie white with black dolmation spots and butter that looks just like princess. When your breeding be carefull after you know they had their breeding session remove the male. and do NOT touch the babies momma will end up eating them. I would love the solid brown as a pet but cant find one. You got very pretty ratties good luck with breeding. They will have alot at one time and if you leave the male in you will have around 20-30 babies between litters. HAVE FUN!!!

I did the same thing. Got two as pets, then got a male, then had 24, then 13, then 3, then 5, then 13, now 5....

They look lovely. I would have to disagree on the previous posters advise about the female rats killing or rejecting their young if you touch them. I know mice can be far more likely to do this but it's not terribly common in rats. I've raised tons of future breeders and feeders and every pinkie rat born in my colony is checked over fully by me within 12 hours of it's birth. I just quietly remove the mother for a few moments to a secure carrier, count the newborn rats, check them for any problems and that they have been nursed (visible milkbands), give mom a quick lookover to make sure she's doing fine post-birth and pop her back in with her little squeeky wigglers. Takes only a couple of minutes. I've never had a problem doing this.
