    Pink rat skin condition
Has anyone seen a pink rat get a skin condition that looks like scabbing (almost looks like blistering from a burn)? I assumed maybe the mother was too rough and she broke the skin and its healing over. It is eating fine and doesn't seem to be in pain (from what I can tell).

Sometimes I get that and it's where mom accidently broke the skin. It usually heals up nicely and is hardly noticeable by the time they are weaned. ;)

Cool...I figured as much. I'll keep an eye on it...

Incidentally, I am disappointed that I am not longer your signature. I thought that was some of my finest work! :D

In all truthfullness, that makes my day complete! Since I lack the ability to be serious, if someone gets a laugh out of my stupidity it makes me happy.

Well, you can be really happy then. Amy walked in the room when I had water coming out of my nose and then she began to laugh at me. So I guess you could call that a "2 for 1". :sweeet:

The moms can just get overly ambitious Jamie and either lick at their babies or haul them about a bit much when they are pinkies. Their skins a bit delicate and rips easily at first (even pulling off stuck bedding can tear a small hole in them sometimes). Mom will likely take care of that pink and it'll toughen up soon enough I'm sure. If it's not well for some reason then most times the female rats will reject a sick offspring or outright cull it.
