NERD Visit Part Deux (DUW!)
This past Sunday (January 14th), which was also my birthday I drove up to NERD again to hang out with the Kara, do some husbandry stuff, play with snakes, pick out my first ever BP baby, and eat the best sandwich ever! When I posted last time about my NERD visit, I had no photos and I committed the ultimate sin by having none ;) So, I took some this time.

This, is birthday apple pie a-la Kara--and that is Kara's hand. The only stipulation about photo-taking is that she not be in any of them :) She's adorable but hates cameras for some reason! And yes, that pie was as delicious as it looks!

This next guy is a little water monitor who hangs out in the monitor/gecko room and begs for food :) He's adorable.
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...t/DSCF0016.jpg

Next are two god-awful pictures of me holding Kara's Black-headed python. At least the python looks nice :D She was a sweetie.

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...t/DSCF0022.jpg

The next two are pics of a couple blood pythons Kara's trying to breed :) They weren't "in the mood".

I'm completely blanking on what snake this is, maybe someone knows or Kara can say what it is. His big blue eyes are SO amazing--he's a cute little guy.

Re: NERD Visit Part Deux (DUW!)
Next come a slew of BP Morphs. Sadly, I had limited space on my camera, and it's a shame I didn't get a pic of the Inferno Ball...'cause he was beautiful. (Though he'll always be the Mephisto Ball to me, Kara ;) ).
I'm going to play name-that-BP-Morph. :) I'm a newbie when it comes to BPs and Morphs in general, so I can name only a few of the following off the top of my head. For me, most of them are "oooh pretty!" as opposed to: "Damn that's an amazing-looking Whatchamacallit!" Suffice it to say, NERD has some REALLY amazing-looking Whatchamacallits!

#1--http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...t/DSCF0030.jpg
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...t/DSCF0031.jpg

#2--http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...t/DSCF0032.jpg

#3--http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...t/DSCF0033.jpg

#4--http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...t/DSCF0034.jpg

#5--http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...t/DSCF0035.jpg

#6-- http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...t/DSCF0036.jpg

#7--http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...t/DSCF0037.jpg

#8--http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...t/DSCF0038.jpg

And last but most CERTAINLY not least, is my new baby! He's a lemon pastel and he was an absolute doll--very curious. He posed nicely for pictures and was very chill when I was holding him. I really dug the kinda busy pattern down his neck...he's just a beautiful boy. He doesn't have a name yet--I'm in my process! But I pick him up from NERD at the beginning of February!

Whew...well, that's it. I had a super fun time at NERD yet again, and Kara was a doll. Thanks to Kev and Kara for your hospitality and for helping me pick out my pretty boy!

Hey hey hey. Redheads are my fave. So great pics! I dig that monitor though! ... I'd rather have 3 of those for guard dogs. Imagine someone trying to break in and they see those? :D

Great Pics!

I am heading over to NERD in the next week or two to get a BP.

Just curious...why the delay until Feb for pickup of your new baby?

I have never bought a snake before so I don't know how it's done

I don't think so. Has too much pattern for a luci. Looks ALMOST like a young trans pecos rat to me

I'm waiting until February because right now I'm on winter break from school. I want to do a few things before I bring him home:

1. Make sure his enclosure is set up and heated up properly, tested out for about a week once I'm back to make sure everything is running properly in that department.

2. I didn't want to bring him here immediately, let him settle in for two weeks then move him back to school, where he'd have to re-adjust again. I don't want to stress the little guy out more than need be :)

That sounds very wise. I am testing my enclosure/setup now and hope to go over to NERD next weekend or the following....
It sounds like if I am ready I can just bring one home same day :carrot:

here's a question for you: should I try to make an appointment to see the breeding facility and stuff while I am there? I have been to the store a few times and seen their retail reptile room but have never been 'backstage'

Drop Kara (KLG here on BP.net) a PM. She and Kev are the head hanchos at NERD. Kara should be able to tell you about a good time to come and get a tour of the "backstage" facility, I'm willing to wager :) She's a sweetheart and was (and is) a HUGE help to me in my learning process.

NERD is a really awesome facility and they have an extraordinary collection--so I'd definitely go see it at some point, even if you choose to wait until after you pick up your BP.

As far as I know, you could bring your baby home the very day you pick him out. :) But again, I'd drop a line at Kara for details about their policies and stuff.
