My other passion....other than reptiles...
....is cars. I drive an 03 Cavalier, which is awesome on gas, but sucks at life with performance and lacking ABS. So I'm selling my Cavy, and this is what I'm picking up tomorrow.
96 Talon TSI
53K original mikes, excellent shape
Synthetic oil in transfer case, rear end, & transmission
Leather interior, power seat
1998 bumpers & hatch
DSM Link V2
Enkei Shogun rims
Forced Performance ported Big16g, Supra sidemount intercooler
Centerforce clutch, 3” RNR turbo back exhaust, high-flow cat
Greddy Profec B boost controller w/steering wheel switch
Autometer Boost & EGT gauges
B&M short throw shifter, Symbiorski shifter bushings
Real HID headlights, PIAA 910 driving lights, remote start
Pioneer stereo w/ 6 disc changer, 400W amp, JL Audio Stealth Box
Timing belt & water pump done

I'm very excited. I've alwyas been into cars, but I could never afford anything decent. This baby is in just too good of shape to pass up! :carrot:

Wow...that's old school as far as import go! I haven't seen enkei shoguns in over 10 years!
I don't know who did the work on that car, but you may want to bring it to a shop with a dyno and have it tuned. A lot of people who hook cars up, especially turbocharged vehicles, just bolt the parts on and drive it away, not realizing that they need to program their fuel curve and whatnot so the motor doesn't kill itself.
My brother recently upgraded the turbo on his sr20 powered 240sx...325hp @ 5500 at the wheels!

Re: My other passion....other than reptiles...
I slap stickers like NOS all over my rides...they add like 20HP a piece!
Sorry I had to...and joking of course. I like auto's myself just wish I could do more than change the oil and other general maintenance stuff. I have/had a few small mods on my car but most have since come back off. If I have the money (pipe dreams) I'll be looking at the new challenger when it comes out.
Yep...Dodge fanboy here.

Re: My other passion....other than reptiles...
See, that's a nice car no payments. Unlike my husbands '03 Mustang Cobra with car payments out the wazoo. *sigh*

The car has DSM Link, which lets me tune the car through my laptop. It was also owned by an extreme dsm enthusist, he has 2 or 3 others. I don't want to take it to the track quite yet. Maybe by early fall. I don't want to dump too much in mods just yet either. Its more important for it to be street legal for me (Massachusetts has the craziest car inspections.)

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldnt you still have to take it to a shop so they could tune it on a dyno..unless you do it on the street..but then you would have to know how to actually "tune" it yourself...I wouldnt take my chances if you don't know exactly what your doing...def have a shop tune it...;)

I'm not very experienced with dsms yet, however my bf is the DSM king, he's only owned them. If I plan to bring it to the track, I'll probably bring it to the dyno. So far I just wanted something more fun to drive, not race quite yet.

You should be straight then:D ...but even for a daily driver any highly modded car should be tuned. And the orginal owner probably has already done that!
btw..i have no clue what DSM is..but assume its a tunable engine management system...and would be similiar to HONDATA..

DSM mean Diamond Star Motors. DSMs are the 1g (90-93/94?) Eagle Talons and Mitsu Eclipses were made in the same factory, and the two companies joined in the project. I think in 1994 or 95, the companies split, but some people still call 2g Talons (95-98) and 2g & 3g Eclipses (95+) DSMs.
I'll be asking about tuning when I talk to the owner in person.

Re: My other passion....other than reptiles...
My dad has an Eagle Talon (I think it may be a year or two older than that one..) It looks more pointy, etc. It has been a great car for him, but he said something to the effect that it's hard to fix/change parts b/c the components under the hood are very closely packed in there.. we had a Ford Probe that we had a similar problem with.. but if this isn't an issue, or if that model is setup differently, who cares!
Personally I am a Nissan girl myself.. :) But I am not trying to start a foreign vs. domestic car/truck arguement, to everyone their own!
