    Negative Reps?
I thought from now on you had to leave your name with any rep. point given? I was just given a Positive Rep. point, with a negative rep. comment....all for correcting someone on the price of SD Retics...and I wasn't rude correcting them either... I don't get it...

Who cares about the comment? You got a postive point, right? Their mistake, laugh about it. lol

Leaving a name has never been required, but leaving a comment has been required for about a year now. I believe at one point, you could rep someone without leaving any comment.

If you agree or disagree with someone's comment strongly enough to rep them then you should in my mind leave your name out of curtisity let the person know who you are . I do.

    Just my two cents

To bad it isn't set up like it automatically logs your user name with it or says "so and so left you this comment", etc.

That would make for all kinds of endless bad blood, discourage use of the system or encourage abuse of the system.

It took a little bit of customizing just to make the comment a required entry before rep could be left - previous to that rep could be left totally without comment or effort.

You can always contact site staff if you feel rep has been left for you in an unjustified manner.

In my opinion if you really stand behind your statement you leave your name. I always leave my name and yes I have negative repped people though it is rare.

What confuses me is, when someone leaves you a positive-sounding comment, but gave you a gray "neutral" rating.. does that hurt your rep or just do nothing?

The gray box, just means that they don't have any rep power. It has no effect on your rep.

I'm guessing this is from mostly newbies to the site, right? Which really sucks because they are those who usually need the most help and they can't even thank you for them. Jeesh, that's rude! Oh well.

How long must you be a member of the site before you can leave rep that dosn't show up as grey? Or do you have to have a certain number of posts?

This site was made to help each other learn about caring for our reptiles properly not getting rep points. It is a nice way to be thanked for helping someone but should not be veiwed as a reason to help someone or not.I have several nuetral points and still veiwed them as a thank you gesture.

On the flip side of this, if someone is new and they want to neg rep you - their neg rep is nuetral until they reach a certain post count. It works both ways.

I think even when they pass the post count the points stay nuetral.

That is correct - the nuetrality is a reflection of WHEN they left the rep, not of their current status when they have added more post counts.
