Website Question...

Does anyone here use Gallery to upload their pictures on to?
If so can you please please help me upload this program on to my ftp. I'm having a HORRIBLE time with it and it is NOT working at all. :(

Have you tried the "Auto Install" option? I used that recently & had good luck with it...

That I have not. I didn't even know they had a auto install option.

I was able to walk through it pretty easily, and I'm VERY good at effing things up when it comes to this kind of stuff. Hopefully that means it's not rocket science! ;)

I'm stuck at uploading the zip file on to my server.

I have quite a bit of experience setting up things like this. I use gallery on my site: www.warrenreptiles.com/gallery

man i had everything rockin and rollin last night...got her MySQL database set up ready to go, uploaded all the files and was ready to install and i can't get passed step 1...the authorize step. I downloaded the login.txt file with the random text, put it in the same directory as main.php and it's still giving me an error when i try to authorize. i'll give it another shot later today...i've got classes all day today. it's weird tho...i'll try to re-upload the install directory to see if that may help.

Heheh... I have a snow day today, and I live where it practically NEVER snows and actually sticks.

On the topic of gallery, I'm quite experienced with web technologies (Dreamweaver, some Photoshop, XHTML, CSS, some PHP) and can usually work around that type of stuff. However, I have no experience with gallery, so I cannot help. Sorry :D

Nate/Lilly if you don't get it going or want another pair of eyes hit me up on IM. I've had some thrashings with gallery...might be able to help you out.

i've had some thrashings with gallery although some of them were quite the failure. if you don't mind i might hit you up to help me out with it for myself sometime... :please:

Just FYI for others, Nate got with me last night and it was determined that the free hosting setup with godaddy injects advertisement code into their files and was causing issues.


Gallery is a pretty good free product. I can't say the thrashings I spoke of where gallery related but rather a database issue. So for those thinking about it it is definitely a good product.

hrm, well i don't have godadday but the thrashings i took--mostly related to upgrading a friend from a way old version to the current version and dealing with the mess that he called his server space... but yeah, had some database issues to. expect questions in the near future! :P
