My partner Justin took some pics of some of the kids the other day and I thought some of you might enjoy seeing them.
Nacho, our bumblebee, is coming along nicely. He finally decided to eat with gusto, so here's to next season!

Thanks for all the comments. We sure are happy with them. That unique female mojave was the runt in her clutch, so we don't know if her look is genetic or not. Probably not, but I guess we will find out here before too long because she eats like a champ!!! As for bees, it will be another year and a half before we hatch more out because we decided to put our female spider with our pied male this year to go for spider het pieds so we can make some spieds down the road. But, summer '08 we should have a few bees since our male will be ready to produce by then. Anyway, thanks again for looking!!!

The black and white colored rocks in the pics are only for pics. We use either newspaper or wood shavings for substrate.

Yeah, we like the look too...but for sure wouldn't be the best for the snakes to be on 24/7.

Nice shots Ben! That bee does look like he's gettin bigger now. I remember him being a little on the smaller side, but what was his hatch weight?

    Evan,

He hatched out at Justin's place, so I don't know for sure...but if I remember right he hatched out around 35g, so was for sure on the small side. I think we have only had one other hatch out that small, and it was that aberant female mojave. She hatched out real small too.

Thanks for all the comments posted. They are great snakes, and I am glad Ben posted them here. I thought I had put them on here as well. Anyway, it is really fun to have cool things hatch out. It will be interesting to see how these projects develop.

The bee was at 120 g yesterday. He has come a long way since he hatched. It was weird, because he would not eat and refused all attempts to feed, so I had to assist feed him 2 times. The day after the second assist feed, I checked on him and he looked hungry. I threw in a fuzzy mouse and he went to town. He ate 1 more that day, and has eaten like a champ ever since. It is funny how that "switch" just kind of turns on the appetite. He is growing quickly now, like a baby ball should.

Thanks again. This is such a great hobby!

    Justin
