How rude...

Brian's response to my bulletin on myspace about my male gettin 'er done at his size...

These are only a couple of things that were posted in his reply to my bulletin...How rude to just make an assumption about Florida breeders. And as far as my male is concerned, He's healthy, producing sperm and I'm attempting to breed him. End of story...He's being closely monitored (weight & ect,...) and fed...and is given plenty of down time (2 days on 3 days off)...

I understand having concern for the animal not knowing the person who is breeding it. I think it's wrong that people breed animals to death, but to reply with some of the things this guy has said is just wrong...

I agree with him on not breeding a female that is under 2 years of age but... c'mon...

Some just love to piss other's off. How old is your male and how much does he weigh? Is he getting her done?

That's one hell of a stereo type to put on "all Florida breeders" He apparently doesn't know where to look. I've been in contact with quite a few people down here that are pretty damn smart. Greg Graziani for instance?

BOB, from the herp hobby shop in oldsmar, FL had a 300 gram pastel breed to 3 females for him last season!...

I personally don't recommend, condone or promote this activity myself but:oops: ...It's pretty crazy...

I am officially a changed man lol... naw, but it is something you can't really describe...I've seen boa's locked up in person but...to see your own animals for the first time breeding it's amazing...i've never bred before so this should be one of the most memoriable experiences ever. FOR ME atleast...

Someone has a bit of a complex.

It is one more example of the common attitude in the herp world. "MY way is right." Not that anyone else might have success with a different way. If they DO have success they are being horrible people and endangering everything in the universe. That wholesale rejection of anything THEY don't do and believe in themselves annoys the heck out of me.

I've noticed the same thing with the little time I have spent online. People seem to be so damn rude to others on these forums when someone disagrees with them or does something different or they decide to go right instead of left. Live and let live I say, to each his own!

it can be pretty brutal on other forums. I've tried other forums and have found this forum to be the least hostile about feeding live. I'm not deemed a "bad owner" for doing so...and there's some other issues that catch heat from time to time, but the mods and admins are always around to keep it under control.

The sad thing is... This wasn't even a forum that I got attacked on lol...
It was myspace... I simply posted a bulletin for the heck of it (which I never do)
and this was the first response to it. I had a couple other "congrats!" and "good lucks!" but this was his... :confuzd:

OH well... I'm not going to lose sleep. I just thought it was really rude.

it seems to me that if this guy brian is getting females to 2500 grams in just 2 years , he must be just about stuffing rats down their throats on a daily basis . it doesnt sound like he has a clue to me .

It's a great attitude to have for life in general ... I think the problem arises because ball pythons are living creatures and in many cases there is a right way and wrong way to do things ... and the wrong way can result in the death of an innocent animal ... many times people with little to no experience come on here and talk about keeping their BP's at room temps, or housing multiple animals in the same enclosure, etc (probably because they heard it was "OK" from someone else with little to no experience pretending to be an "expert") and they are nudged in the right direction by people with tons of real world experience ... it's usually when that "nudge" is taken as a personal attack instead of just advice given for the sole purpose of trying to help another living creature thrive that feelings get hurt and threads that should have been helpful resources for learning turn into some idiots cry fest over who knows what.

Well to me its one thing to express concern for the animal... but to express it in; THE ANIMAL IS GOING TO DIE, and every breeder in FL can't provide adequate husbandry... That's pretty weak.

Is there any difference between making a vague comment about a group of people...and talking about someone's opinion when they are not able to defend their perspective? LOL.....no difference to me.

Brian is a herper as I mentioned in earlier posts... I guess it doesn't really matter that much. I'm aware that people disagree and it's whatever... everybody has their own way of doing things and I'm completely cool with it...

I actually tried to speak with him publicly about his perspective but he wouldn't... Oh well...:)
