    Females more expensive?
Why is it that female BP's are so much more expensive? For example a male pastel costs around 300. While a female costs around 800.

well first of all it's the females that produce the eggs, you can have 3 males and one female, and you only get one clutch, let's say you have 3 females, and breed one pastel male, all 3 clutches will have some pastels in them. so males are cheaper cos theoretically you can get several clutches from the females with only one male, lessening the need for males

this isn't a very good explanation, i'm sure others will provide a better answer :)

Because females produce eggs, which produce babies....

Males can breed with several females and produce more morphs or hets.
Females can breed and produce whatever morph/het they are PLUS combos of that morph if you choose to, and they can produce eggs year after year... Males are only good for the sperm.

If you intend to breed, you need way more females than males, which is the demand aspect of it. The demand is higher for females when you are breeding.

in addition to the above, when dealing with morphs like pastels, cinnys, black pastels, lessers, mojaves, yellow bellies, etc. these morphs have super forms, and you need the girls to get them!

Personally, I think that is not a good statement to be made. That is suggesting that both sexes' price would be equal. Males are just as much a part of the equation as females are. I completely understand selling a 2000g female for more than a 2000g male, but as babies, I am not seeing it.

both sexes are not equal, only one can have the eggs. with a male you can make more snakes/combos/hets etc. but if you are after the super forms, the females are a must. just depends or your goals/wants. take spider for example, as of now there isn't a visual super form of spider x spider. so females aren't priced much higher than males. if the super form of that morph is desirable and appealing, the prices of the females go up. just my take on things. :D

Consider that one male can breed multiple females, but you still assume a 1:1 birth rate....this results in a surplus of males, hence the lower prices.

What I don't understand is why dom and co-dom males are still nearly always listed at lower prices...it seems like you can produce a lot more morph babies with a male than a female.

Of course you can. You will need to breed the male pastel to a normal female, then raise up a female pastel from the clutch (if you get one) and breed your male pastel to the female pastel. People do that all the time with het males.
