How many of you keep your snakes in your bedroom?

I have been curious about this for a while, due to the fact that when I meet new people from the area, some people have to cram all their animals in with them in the bedroom.

I actually met a man who keeps more than 10 retics next to his bed!

So, free for all, my friends...

Share where you keep your animals.

Well I live with my parents who have given me the upstairs of the house which is two rooms. My bedroom houses 4 snakes currently and the balance are in the second room (which is where the computer is too)

My bedroom also houses 9 tarantulas 2 scorpions, a canary, 2 bronze winged mannikin finches, 2 doves and a bullhead catfish.

I keep my BP and my taiwan beauty snake in my room, but thats coz I live in a shared house where I rent a room. Dont think Id sleep next to a rectic tho! My beauty snake lives next to my bed, but its a good cage and she'd never escape. Either way, my girlfriend will only sleep on the other side!!

Used to be in our bedroom. Now they have their own room. Too many to share our room.:D

We keep all of our snakes in the house's former dining room. Anyone who is in quarantine goes in the little nook off the kitchen; our room is the coldest room in the house, and we only heat it at night with an electric heater, since for some reason there is no centralized heat in that room.. :/

I have yet to have a whole house to myself, so my caged pets have always lived in my bedroom. Currently all of my snakes are in my bedroom, although I am working on moving all of the Boas out and also having a quarantine area in another part of the house. My next living arrangement should be quite different... :)

Zeke my bp is in my large walk in closet with doors removed in my bedroom. My computer desk sits right next to the closet so I can look and see him at any time. I also have my dalmation crestie on a table next to my computer and my 2 rats, Snow and Speedy are in the room! Thankfully we have a large bedroom that not only holds all of the animals but also 2 computers and desks, a qeensize bed, 2 night stands and a large 3 piece entertainment center. The joys of living with the inlaws and only having one room:eek:

I keep 2 ball pythons in my room.

I have one ball python and a 5 month old BCI in my room. All the rest are in another room in a rack. Whenever I get around to making my hatchling rack I will be bringing my ball in the other room to make sure I don't have any problems with the BCI.

They all used to be in my bedroom, now since weve moved rooms around a little ive got 2 seperate rooms for them. One for QT and one for everyone else.:)

I had always kept all of my balls in my room but my girlfriend has a queen bed and alot of bedroom furniture and we only have a 650sq ft. apartment so... they're tanks are in the dining room and unusually large laundry room...:(


it's cool having them in the living room though...everybody walks in and the first thing they say is "oh cool a snake!..." uh...or something like that lol..:)

i have two bedrooms, one with my rats and my computer, and the other room with my snakes.

Right now the only time I keep my reptiles in my room is for quarantine periods. Main reason being, we live in a small apartment. we are moving in Feb. YAY!!! I hate living here lol. So I don't have a lot of seperate rooms to keep them in unless they were to stay in the bathroom or my 3 and 2 year olds room. Which would not be a good thing.

Ball rack is in the dinning room (no dinning going on don't worry) boa rack in bedroom, quarantine in walk-in coat closet.

I can't wait to have more space.

Now my next question is, how many of you actually sleep with your animals in the bedroom and how many? (for those of you who never answered this part)

And those of you that breed rodents... Where are they?

well. I dont have a rack, so i have one on top of my dresser, one on top of my other dresser, one on top of a table that's in my room, and another on another table in my room.

Somehow we've managed to end up with no reptiles in the house...although I wouldn't mind having a nice arboreal display someday. :D

We have a 55-g goldfish tank on our room; I always make a point Not to feed them before bed, otherwise you hear GULP GULP PLOOP as they eat; they are little nuts when you put their food in; one almost leaves the water! This is not conductive to sleep..
My cat usually sleeps in between Mark and I, but the past few nights I have locked him in the bathroom at the other end of the house (with a comfy bed, food/water, box, etc) because he just will not stop meowing well past midnight and we were sick of it.. but last night we let him stay out and he just slept on the couch.
My rat breeders are in the laundry room, in a little nook where they are not visible to anyone visiting unless I want to show them.

i have about a dozen tarantulas in our room, a 46 gallon brackish tank, a corn snake and 2 boas.

Also to contribute: Only animals in our bedroom are the dogs at night. Reptiles and rodents...and computers/equipment share another room. We have a small house which sucks but its not the last place we will call home ;)

right now i have 4 in my room, and one in the "quarantine room"...AKA...Mandy's room :D

yes, i sleep with my animals in my room. I can sleep in either room, the rat room or the snake room, but either way i'm sleeping in the same room as them.

I only have one snake ATM, and he is in my bedroom, on a small table beside my desk, where I am as we speak. :sunny:

i have my new 3 month old albino ball in my room for now...


i want to move all my snakes to my room but i do still live with my parents and my mom would never let me.

do you think that by keeping animals in your room and by sleeping with them around you, any risks to your health can arise???

I think it would depend on the animal and its conditions.
ie. I've heard that some turtles or birds(mainly wild ones) could carry salmonela, but if you're keeping clean reptiles, like your snakes in your room, I don't think you would get sick from them.

I used to keep my mice, bird, snakes, geckos, and frog in my room. It was a pain in the rear end trying to clean around everything. Now my boas are at grandmas and my ball lives in my closet which is warm, dark, and comotion free!

I have a standard size bedroom that I share with 11 snakes, 3 rats and 2 mice.

Well obviously we sleep with some snakes. The kittens are variable. IF they have played all day they are allowed to sleep with us since they tend to be cuddly adorable purr boxes. If they have slept all day they are locked out since they'll be demonic crazy obnoxious balls of uncontained energy.

Then there is my husband, thus far he's allowed to sleep in there but who knows what the future may hold. :)

i rent the upstairs of a house giving me 2 bedrooms and a bathroom as well as run of the kitchen . one of the rooms is almost all storage with one corner set up for my rats . the other room is combination living room/bedroom/snake room . i also use the storage room for a quarentine room . so the room i sleep in has one eight foot boa , seven ball pythons , four paulsonis , two sand boas , and one coastal rosy boa . oh almost forgot the new house geckos are also in there . my two mexican rosy boas are at the petshop in a walk in cooler for brumation , but when they are done hibernating they will also be in here with the rest of us .

if i ever get off my lazy other end and clean out the storage room then alot of the snakes will be moved in there , but for now they stay where they are .

my snakes will all be housed in my basement, which is also my fish room and frog room :)

I work in my basement, and it is mostly a finished space, so it's actually kind of nice. I spend most of my time down in there so it's awesome - constantly surrounded by my lovely pets :sunny:
I also have gym equipment down there so I can watch my animals when I work out!

my husband has allowed a fish tank upstairs, but I am not going to push it on the snakes....besides the basement stays much cooler in the summer than the rest of the house. Perfect for sensitive reptiles!

I have a two bedroom apartment. The tarantulas and other inverts live in my "library" spare bedroom. All of the reptiles live in my bedroom. It's possible that I could squeeze all of them into one room, but I like to keep the arachnids separate from the reptiles in case I have to do a mite treatment. I'd also have to do some major rearrangement to get them into one room, even if they would all fit in the spare room. Also the "master" bedroom is the larger room. It helps that the two bedrooms have hardwood floors and the living room has carpet. The reptiles and inverts are also better kept behind closed doors so the cat doesn't bother any of them.

Wow, how can you people house BPs and other snakes in your room?! What with their loud music blaring at all hours.. their wild parties and the sign they put up saying "If the rack's a-rockin' , don't bother knockin"...!? Snakes are just regular Part-ay Animals!
Seriously though, if I had to house some of our animals in our room, the snakes would be my first choice. 100% silent. :)

Both of my snakes are in my bedroom, along with my spiderlings, my scorplings, and my tailless whip scorpion. Plus my dogs sleep with me, so I tell everyone that when my husband leaves town, no one in their right mind would break into my house and enter my bedroom. I sleep with snakes, spiders, scorpions, and two pit bulls!!!!!

mine is in my basement aka my 2nd room

All in my room, unfortunately, except my sister's snake which is in her room. Of course, I wish I had a couple rooms dedicated only to reptiles, all in FB racks etc., climate controlled, like a professional breeder's facility. :P That won't happen until I own my own house...

8 of 9 snakes are in our bedroom, along with a 29 fish tank w/ 2 RES, 5 leo geckos, ferret, and 1 pac man frog. Usually 2 cats can be found in here as well.

i have my two in my sons room for now, it the warmest room in the house. im moveing them as soon as i get this shelf ready for there tanks to go on..

All in my room, except one cornsnake that was being quarantined at a friend's house, and the 4 snakes coming soon :)

All in all... 15 right now, 5 coming this month(Sullivan from Robin, '06 female from Lawrence "xdeus", '06 female from Gary Kettring, and an '06 male Spider from CV Exotics-Scott Seavey). Hopefully in February at the NARBC, we'll find a nice '06 Yellowbelly male with a bit of help :)

And this doesn't include the rest of the animals... 25 rats, 5 geckos, a 20gtall fish tank, another 20g tall tank with my White's Tree Frog, Murphy, in it, as well as 7 (soon 8) tarantulas. The 7 Guinea Pigs and 2 billion mice are in the garage, hehe.

All of mine are sporting their own abode! (A guest room)... It stays nice and toasty in there...:carrot:

I got rid of my bead and bought a futon which in UNABLE to fold out due to the cages. I share my room with 4 snakes then one is out in our loft.

Both places I "live" have snakes in my bed room :) Keeps the kitty out! However they use to stay in the guest room till I moved.

Gomez is currently the only snake residing in the bedroom. :) I have promised the Mrs though that when we move and get a snake room, the only critter ever in the bedroom will be the cat. ;) She wants her dresser back, lol!

One of my snakes is in my bedroom, the other is still in quarantine but will be in my room after he gets the all clear....in a couple months.
