And a happy new year right back attcha :D

I'm going to be extra safe this year - taking an extra cork to prevent accidental spillages.

Have a nice bottle of ten year old macallan and some gold joe crow to deal with anyone still left standing at the bells.

May the new year bring new joys for all. :fest:

HAPPEE NEW YEAR! Mark and I are home relaxing; we spent the whole day having a tatto party at my uncle's house; three brothers got matching last-name tats, and I designed my other cousin a cross for his arm.. fun times and some $$! It is so funny seeing my cousins, who I remember wearing diapers.. getting tats, driving cars and having girlfriends! Makes me feel my age, hehe.. but seriously, there is nothing in the world I'd rather be doing than sharing the evening at home with my honey. Too many brainless drunk drivers out on these roads; hope they have roadblocks everywhere!

Nice - bit salty and peaty for me on a general drinking night but a noble drink indeed. How do you feel about bunnahabhain?

The Macallan was gorgeous (started off with it while I could still taste things) and was also what I used to ring in the bells. :)

Gold joe crow is jose cuervo especial gold tequila - mainly 'cos the persons house we were in says anything else makes him ill.

We got through two bottles of the stuff then added baileys irish cream and a catalan cava into the mix. This may explain why I got the whisky in first -everything tasted wierd at that point. I'm not sure the heineken lager or old english cider helped that either.

There was also a spanish custom ( or maybe just catalan - we had catalonian guests) that everyone had to eat 12 grapes in time to the 12 bells of midnight, one each stroke.

Since this conflicts with my Scottish tradition of having a damned fine whisky in my mouth at the bells and me being a tad merry by then I nearly choked on the grape in the glass of whisky.

When I got home I discovered my isp had managed to break the phone, the tv and the internet services so was incomunicado till earlier this evening - though it did make for a wonderfully quiet recovery period.

I had hoped to take a little while off to rebuild my liver but the landlord wants to take me out when I pay the rent to celebrate the new year. However that will be mainly newcastle brown ale I'll be drinking and my body is well used to that after all these years. :)

It's good to browse the forums and see only a few small problems so far and that almost everyone has had a nice time.:D
