Anyone else get a Wii?

My dad's big Christmas present for the family this year is a brand new Nintendo Wii! We just got it today at about 12:00 PM. The last one in stock at Best Buy! Unfortunately, we couldn't find any extra controllers at any of the seven stores we went to, so I guess we'll have to fare with one until the rush dies down a little and more are in stock. Also purchased was The Legend of Zelda- Twilight Princess, a 1 GB SD card, and a 2-yr. warranty from Best Buy. Anyone else get one? What games did you get?

but we did get the family an xbox360 at the beginning of the month ;)

FRIGGIN SWEEET!!! I have yet to try this thing! How is the new zelda? How does it feel?

@ Aleesha- how's the 360?

@ twiztard- it's really nice. You're going to want to play it a lot, LOL.

@ Rascal- I only played the Zelda for 30 mins, so I cannot tell you much, but it's very nice. You move with the analog on the nunchuck, and it tells you which buttons to press when faced with an obstacle, running, on the horse, etc. It's similar to other Zeldas, I suppose, but unique. Wii Sports is also fun.. pretty realistic motions.

@ Everyone- I haven't had a chance to go on the internet through it yet (have connected, though, so I can), but I did check the weather. It's pretty nice. Up to 5-day forecast, a map of the region that you can survey with the Wii Remote, etc... Another cool thing is that on the message board (like refrigerator notes except on the Wii) the Wii sends you little info. such as how much you've played that day and how much you played each game. So far, I'm loving this thing!!

We got the Wii and the kids love it. I have been so busy with the snakes today I havnt had a chance to play but the kids downloaded Sonic the hedgehog and Mario Bros. They say it rocks....even the 16 year old who said and I quote "I don't want that stupid system"

oh yea and we got Zelda and my youngest son has $130 to spend at game stop so I am sure we will have more soon.

hehe cool. My younger cousin got one. They are good for kids, just nintendo games in general. I have an xbox 360. I've called many a "sick day" from staying up all night playing online. I've played in and won MLG(major league gaming) tournaments, which is basically getting payed to be a nerd. :)

i want one of them mudda's

i wanna play classic nintendo games on it like mario kart and donkey kong

i also wanna play a boxing game on it

It was on the news Christmas morning. They showed multiple tvs that had been broken because the safety strap broke, and the controller went flying into the screen. Their solution was to tell people to ease up a bit. :rolleyes:

Yeah..I heard this also, but don't you actually have to "hold" the controller to play, or is the straps the only things really holding them on?

I think it's a safety strap, and it's just not holding up to the rough usage and it's breaking. It's also possible a few people aren't using them. Although I'm sure you have to hold onto the controllers ... I didn't pay close attention to the news as my kids had me opening boxes at that time. :rolleyes:

They have actually recalled the straps. If you have a Wii you can get new ones sent to you.

Yeah, people tend to over-exert themselves on Wii Sports, because they think they have to. You don't really even need to move around (except a little in boxing), just move your arms. I would say that tennis and baseball are probably the ones more likely to send the remote out of your hand if the strap broke. However, use common sense! Wipe off your hand and the remote if it gets sweaty, hold on to the remote tightly, and don't swipe it so hard! I haven't seen it as a problem in any other games; they're more laid back and you can sit down while playing.

I downloaded the trial version of the internet channel, and as I went on it, I attempted to go to this site, naturally of course ;), but for some reason it wouldn't completely load. It's fairly fast, though, as it's using the same internet connection as the computers.

I highly recommend this system to anyone who wants a fun game console! (You may have to wait a little while, though, as they're very rare right now.)

My friend has a wii,it's alright but more of a family gaming console if you ask me.I have and xbox360

I have a wii, still waiting for the good titles to come out, launch was kind of a let down.

Since this post I have gotten Excite Truck. Very fun game!! I need another controller so I can do multiplayer...

i sat 6 hours for my playstation 3 and got nba 07 and resistance although graphics arent to much better than the 360. the controller is somewhat motion sensitive so you can turn your controller to steer a car just like the wii:)

i have one, at first it is the best gaming system of all time, then after a week or so, it gets kinda boring.

It's like that with a lot of systems, mostly cause launch only gives you a few good titles all the great ones come after about a year or so. The wii wont be any different.
