    Ball python or not?
I am going into the market again, I am looking at another female ball(900Gs+ hopefully), or should I get another snake? If so what kind? I have a cornsnake so nothing smaller, and nothing that gets over 8ft.

Do you intend on breeding BPs in the future? If so, I would get the female, and save up for your first morph..
BCI do get relatively large, definately when compared to BPs.. if it's something you are 1000% sure you will want for its entire life, I would get a male.

I vote BCI, but it comes down to what do you want to live with for your next snake.:)

What all do you have right now for bp's? Just curious...

I'd go with more ball's if your planning on breeding...but that's my opinion.

If you are leaning towards something new I would suggest a carpet python. Irian Jaya carpets and Jungle carpets are beautiful snakes that are easy to care for :)

and after all this "light" being shone onto IBD... i would hesitate to bring a boa into your collection.

(thanks... i learned that "buy what makes your heart https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil.../4/7/heart.gif sing" from adam!)

I would say male BCI. if fed conservatively, they don't usually get much over 6' and almost never 7'+. If fed ever 2 weeks, you are looking at a lean, and heathy pet

    whats a BCI?

my next snake is going to be a rainbow boa. I fell in love at the local pet shop and she was beautiful.

I would get a new type of snake. Look out for boas, though. You could still get one if you kept it in another room and made very little contact between it and your pythons. :carrot:

Boa Constrictor Imperator, also known as a Colombian boa or red tail boa. Males average 6-8 feet, females a couple feet larger, rarely exceed ten feet.

    Re: Ball python or not?
Don't get a Boa... Everyone gets boas. Get something different. Like someone else said, the carpet pythons are really nice, or maybe a macklotts python would be good. They're a nice medium sized python that have great personalities and aren't too expensive, yet fairly uncommon in most collections.

    Re: Ball python or not?
Of course I am bias but if you want different try

    1. African House Snakes, see my blog in my signature for a few varieties. I have more comming soon too.

    2. Asian Rats, like taiwan beauties, blue beauties, radiated rats, etc. Inexpensive, get big with out being too big, etc. Husbandry is like a corn snake save for needing bigger enclosures.

    3. Bull Snake, many morphs, get really big if you feed them well and so under rated it is almost silly.

    4. Cat Eyed Snakes - Just about one of the coolest little noodles around.

    5. Dumeril's Boa - Don't get as big (generaly) as a RTB etc. Gentle once you get them past the baby nippy stage and just beautiful in a very different way for a boa.

Those are my top pics for "others" that don't break the bank and are not something everyone else has. However as you are only 14 please think about what you buy very carefully. Some day you are going to go off on your own and may not be able to deal with a herp collection as you are struggling to start your life. I know 4-6 years seems like a long time right now but they will FLY and your snakes will live for 15-20 years or more.

And I may take some flack on this but just do not think about Burms, Retics, etc at this time. Until you are financially stable, have at least three other people that can help you handle them, etc you just should not be messing with a giant snake. (no they don't take 4 people to handle at once but at least two and you need stand ins for when that person you can always depend on, moves, goes on vacation, has a fight with you, etc)

I never ever talk down to a kid, I used to be one ya know, :carrot: and I LOVED snakes but the real giants are dangerous and need the right support to be kept. I see you seem to be in touch with that already so my comments are more for "others". Kudos to you for being willing to be in touch with your limations, it speaks VERY WELL OF YOU. Makes me have a great outlook for our future in our world of herping,

oh man. there are so many great snakes out there. I would say go with a BCI if you want to explore, i know that feeling. I have all balls and 1 BCI male. Great snake, i love him to pieces. If you are breeding and want more babys, go with a female BP. OR i kinda need a female BP, so get both and send the female my way :D
