We got him!! (DUW!)

Well, we finally got the Dane! Thanks a ton to Jess for all her help with the bloat (GDV) info. We picked him up this afternoon and have been having a blast with him ever since. Ok, pic-hounds... I'll stop rambling and get on with the pics... Meet, Lord Hannibal II!!

Nice big boy! I loved the uncropped look. :D We always cropped ours for showing, so I was happy when the uncropped look became acceptable. Thanks for sharing your pics. I really miss having danes.

Nathan, yup he's a monster! But he's just a giant puppy, sweet as can be!

Nancy, this is actually our first and I didn't think I'd like the uncropped look since all I guess I've ever seen are cropped danes, but I really like his ears like that. It seems to fit him better I guess... I've always loved danes and I'm glad I was finally able to get one. Now the fun part... Buying food!!

Oh yeah!! I haven't weighed him yet, local pet store was closed... But the people I got him from, and I'm inclined to agree, think he's about 180-200 lbs. So you can imagine the size of that poo! Yikes!

i might consider a dane in the future, but the size of the poop intimidates me :)

Well actually Kizerk, they say that if you're feeding them right, so that they are absorbing the nutrients like they should that it shouldn't be very big for their size. But I've yet to see him poo since I had to go to work tonight (*Gotta love BP.net at work*) so only time will tell.

Thanks everyone! I can tell you one thing... Even though he's just a big pup, it's a little bit unnerving to have a 200 or so pound dog snoring next to you in bed! Definitely brings new meaning to the phrase "sawing logs"!! He's his own lumber mill!!!:O

What a big gorgeous boy! I love Dane's personalities...just total goofballs. Big fan of natural ears here too. :-)

Oh I love Danes! We used to have neighbours that had the Harlequin ones and I fell in love with them. Someday if I have the room a Great Dane is my dream dog. Congrats on giving him a loving forever home.

Thanks again, all! I'm glad that we were able to take him in and care for him. It was so sad watching the previous owners say goodbye to him. You could tell that they really cared for him and his sister. I don't guess I ever explained it all, they had to give them away due to health problems. Basically because the home health people refused to come to their house with the dogs there. The female is going to someone else though, sadly, because we don't have room for both of them. You can tell that he misses her though sometimes. :(
And Schlyne... I can't say that I've ever heard a pug snore, but I can imagine just from hearing them breathe when they get excited, that it could be pretty tough to sleep through!

I recommend steering clear of boa constrictors as well then...their poo is so big, it scares the snake itself...
