Life is Confusing When You are a Puppy!

Had to share this hilarious picture of Gunnar, our 8 month old Boxer/Yellow Lab mix. We put up our Xmas decorations and put the good old singing, dancing Santa on the kitchen table. As soon as he went into his jolly singing, hip wiggling act she wents NUTS! Barking and charging the table, running to us for reassurance and then "protecting" us from the freaky elf on the table. LOL

Eventually she calmed down enough to sneek this peek at this strange thing in her world.

Other things that have confused poor young Gunnar lately.....

1) What is snow? Why does it make me sneeze when a snuffle up a huge amount? Can I pee on this??????? (took her all morning to figure out yes you can pee on this new white stuff!)

2) What is a vacuum? Why can't I attack it and save my family from this strange and loud monster???? Why is mommy yelling at me about being a doofus and she'd like to finish her housework without me killing the vacuum monster again??????

Apparently, if Martha Stewart breaks into our house when we are out, dressed in a Santa suit, breaks into "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree", while shaking her hips, in order to illegally vacuum my home....

I have the world's best trained guard/attack puppy! :)

Hehehehe....that's WAY too cute!!

That is so funny. thats the part of having a dog i miss, those crazy little things like that, you would never guess that would drive them nuts that are SO funny... GOOD STUFF.....

You should test out that theory and dress in a santa outfit and sing and dance. (and remember to video it!!) :clap:

The day I dress in a Santa Suit and shake my butt while singing Christmas tunes at the top of my lungs AND vacuuming AND video tape it for a bunch of friends online....is the day I finally give up and go get that nice window bed at the rest home. You people are crazy!!!! LOL

Hmmm do they have nice young men in their clean white suits though????? Big, strong, hunky nice young men....hmmmmmmmmmm :)

don't forget it has to be on top of the table right next to the other one.....

Maybe we can bribe Mike to slip you a few drinks and video it for us for a nominal fee? :giggle:

You definitely fit in here Joe LOL. Mike might agree Christie to everything except me singing Xmas tunes. Sorry to say but I have possibly the worst singing voice ever. I'm not joking that my babies cried when I sang lullabies to them and one of my sure fire parenting tricks when the three oldest were young and acting up in a grocery store was to threaten to sing along to the piped in muzak (and add in choreography if that wasn't bad enough!). Always ensured three perfectly behaved kids in any store. :)

What a cute pup pup Jo! How's the training coming along BTW? Is she better behaved?

Thanks for asking Jason. Like any young animal (or kid for that matter) it's a day by day thing. Some days she's lovely, other days she's a complete and utter brat again and we have to just stay on top of her and not let it get out of hand again. She's such a smart dog she will get into stuff she obviously knows is wrong but is hoping you won't catch her I guess LOL. I still chuckle at her tearing off to sit innocently in her open kennel door when I walk into the room. Takes me about a second to find what she's been into but she's too smart and fast to actually get caught at it much anymore.

The head halter is still a godsend and making life much nicer. Today when Mikey pushed the button on dancin Santa, Gunnar just gave it a dirty look but didn't charge or bark wildly at it. :)

She's still pretty unsure about this peeing on the funny white stuff thing. Well either that or squatting in cold snow is just not that much dang fun! LOL

That is so cute! My dog knocked the Christmas tree over once - on himself. He was extremely suspicious of it from then on. Never had to worry he'd get into stuff under it though.

I think they should market some sort of proximity alarm so when puppies or kittens approach Christmas trees a stern voice says "Go away! Bad puppy (kitten)! Do NOT pee on me! Do NOT chew me! Do NOT climb me!" I'd pay money for that! LOL

Hahaha....that'd work for toddlers wanting to rip at all the pretty paper...and young kids who can't wait 'til Christmas morning to open their boxes. "Step AWAY from the Tree! Or Santa's got a bag of coal with your name on it!" :P

There is a solution to the curious/mischevious cat/dog + Christmas tree thing...

It's called a rotating Christmas tree. =) Mine rotates and has been cat-free since I bought it. Also makes decorating and de-decorating a cinch! Stand in one place! Much easier to hold rum-laced eggnog in one hand and ornament in the other...

*NOT* that I've tested this practice....er...not me.

We opted to go without the tree this year since we have 3 4 month old kittens in the house. I don't think you idea of a talking tree would work with cats Jo. My kittens know when they are doing something they shouldn't, and if I yell at them, they stop, turn their head slowly toward me, and give me the look that says, "Yes, that is my name." and then continue what they were doing. They won't stop until I get up and am almost to them, then they run.

My female dog pulled something similar the other day. She was out in the yard, digging a hole. I opened the door and bellowed her name. She froze, turned and looked at me, and the look said, "What?!? I didn't do nothin'!!!!"
