Here's a couple more pic's of her. She's growing up fast and is getting smarter everyday. SHe's such a good dog. We're really close to having her completely potty trained already...anyways on with the pics!

Aww, she's adorable! Please tell me you're not going to have her ears cropped, natural ears give them so much character.

Hell no!!! we are so not going to crop the ears! she looks too adorable and honostly I don't even like them with cropped ears. I like the flappy naturalness haha...

But no my girlfriend actually wants to show her...So she can't be spayed. And they just recently changed the rules to where they don't need to be cropped so thats cool... This dog is so spoiled though. My girlfriend takes her to petland and lets her pickout toys and she's got her own moisturizing shampoo and conditioner it's pretty bad but oh well... I spoil my snakes with cool looking enclosures and stuff so...(not that they give a poop or notice but what the hell) lol

Bench showing can get pretty expensive and pretty tough but it's fun though I prefer the obedience and agility worlds myself.
I'm very glad to hear that you're not cropping her ears, that's awesome!

Keep us updated on the gorgeous girls progress!

Yeah, she's already spent a bunch of money on her and i got a sick a$$ job at my company doing global web design and graphics so...She might be able to pull off the showing. She's actually going to start the obedience and training when she's 16 weeks.

Obedience is highly addictive! Even if she doesn't decide to pursue it to show she might want to work on getting her CD and CDX titles.

Oh she's cute and look at those big feet! LOL Does she do that sort of prancing walk that boxers seem to have (sorry boxer folks I have no idea what it's really called...like a high stepping prance almost???) As our boxer mix has gotten older she's really pretty to watch move out like that.

Actually she does have it. i don't know what its called but even when she runs she'll have a cute little hop in the middle of it somewhere. It's really cute the way she does it. And she definetly lives up to the boxer name by using her front paws alot to sort of box when she plays.:)

I was doing a bit of googling on Boxers (gee amazing I'd be googling isn't it LOL), anyways....read up a bit on the original use of Boxers as hunters of large game animals like bison, wild boar and the like. Some of the information indicates that standards for the breed honor this hunting past and the body type needed to do that work. So it would make sense that you'd want a dog very light on it's feet so they can make the quick, precise turns it take to run down a large hooved animal. I'm wondering if this ability to "box" so efficiently with their front feet may in fact have been originally an ability to reach out with those feet and trip a running prey animal (much as lions will trip a gazelle in order to bring it down quickly). Just a thought.

P.S. Apparently their forward placed eyes were for keeping sight of a prey at high speeds and the power and set of their jaws so they could grip and restrain large animals until their owner came to finish the kill...interesting stuff...I never knew all this about Boxers. I know a lot about Labradours but it's nice to have more info on the other side of our dog's genetics. :)

I've read that about boxers as well as far as hunting big game. I could imagine the use of the front paws to be for other things as well as hunting. It is very interesting read up about dogs and how they were used back in old times...Almost kinda funny, nowadays they just sleep around the house and chase they're tails and such... Show's ya how spoiled they are in today's times.

Why thank you! I don't see how someone could look at that cute face and set of ears and want to mutilate ( or crop ) them...

    It's just sickening!

I used to work in a vet clinic and was also voted to clean the 'crop AKA blood cages' at the top. That's where they'd put the puppies that had their ears cropped.
I hated it. The pups were miserable, their ears itched and if they itched or rubbed them they'd bleed coating the inside of the cage with a TON of blood. I'd get them out to clean their cages and they'd beg me to itch their ears and I couldn't but I gave each of them a good chin rub which they seemed to like.
I think if more owners had to see first hand what they put their animals through we'd have a lot less cropping and declawing.
    *steps away from soapbox*

Anyway, I love the boxer prance, my boxer/pit mix does it and it's hilarious. When we'd go for walks and she got real excited she would do this funny little run, it was great.
She picked up on obedience super fast too.
Because I'm such an obedience fiend you have to keep us updated on her when she starts her obedience work! Ya gotta ya gotta!

If that ends up being addiction look into Schutzhund it is more difficult but it's fun. I worked with a Schutzhund trainer for awhile and was going to try and get so I could offer it myself but it didn't work out that way.

Okay, I'll step away from your thread now.... have fun with her!

Please don't, this thread is for anybody! I invite anybody to chime in and let me know how they like they're boxer or how great of dogs they are. This is our first boxer so it's cool to hear from other people their experiences with them!

Well I will say Steven that our boxer mix has been a very challenging pup. When I read that Boxers require dominant owners and are very prone to jumping, getting into a lot of mischief and being a strong minded dog, they weren't wrong LOL. Now that I understand our Gunnar's genetics better and we've gotten a stronger handle on her (much thanks to this forum and to the use of a halti collar) she's settled right down. They may be a challenge but I cannot believe how fast a Boxer or Boxer mix seems to get stuff.....very keen dog once they figure out what's up. She was a rotten brat last week, this week she's lovely and calm most of the time (which for an 8 month old pup is fantastic!).

My previous dogs were Labs, GSD's and Hound mixes and very different in temperment than this Boxer mix. I think at some point I can see us owning a purebred Boxer. Yours is certainly a gorgeous pup!

Thank you very much! That means alot to me and my girlfriend.
I have honostly owned mostly beagles, basset hounds and german shepards
and they all have they're own personality but the boxers stands out the most. I Love this dog and I love how she picks up on things. I was cooking a NY strip steak last night that i had marinating over night in the fridge and If I only could have captured the cutest puppy dog face she gave me last night you guys would have freaked lol...

But seriously, thank you all for your comments and extra info/experience on boxers or boxer mix's. So far we're very proud to have her and she has made an excellent addition to our family of animals hehe

How cute is that? All these dog and puppy pics make me wish I could have a dog again. Puppies are so cute when they are all gangly like that - before they grow into their paws.

Now at 5 months...and 25lbs I believe... She was the runt of the litter so she shouldn't be too big when it's all said and done... I'm not complaining. She's an absolute sweetheart...and the biggest baby. LOL.
