The most important post you will ever read.

This isn't really the most important post you will ever read, but it's a question that I would like to know.... How many people on this board have had a snake die of old age? I see that there are a lot of people that have many many young snakes (myself included) but I think it would be interesting to know who the people are on this board that have been into herps for so long that they have had their baby snakes grow up, live a full long life, and pass away from plain old age. Kind of a strange question, but I had to ask......

Actually, this might be the most important post any of us will read on this site. I saw a thread recently where folks said how old they were. I didn't read it in detail, but I recall that just one person--one--of the dozen or so I looked through were anything close to a BP's expected life span. Most folks were younger than 20. Which is to say, a reptile lives a long, long time. Be sure, be very sure, before you take the plunge and acquire one.

I believe Adam's original female died of old age.

Most of mine are still young. I'll check in 20-30 years lol

I have had a couple. Lost one of my original animals that I had since I was a kid a couple of years ago.

Awwww Adam that must be incredibly hard to say goodbye to a snake you've shared so much of your life with. :( :hug:

I am 47, Fluffy is 5 months old. My daughter said that if we get too old to take care of him, she will take over.

It is important to me to know if my snake out lives me that someone will be there to continue the love.

i'm not at all worried about our snakes. right now there are three nice sided breeders within a short drive of my home. goodness forbid something happened to us... i'm quite sure they would welcome them and rehome them ;)

but i plan on being that crazy old snake/lizard/fish/bird/cat lady who eats canned cat food (okay maybe we'll substitute that with sushi) and drinks nothing but coffee all day long... sitting in her garden alone talking to the dragonflies in her yard. ahhhhhhh i can see it now...

Hey Leesha, can you set up a spare lawn chair for me sweetie. I'll bring brownies (soft so we can gum em) and tea laced with brandy (which all old crazy ladies are required to sip all the day long).

My oldest daughter already calls me "the crazy snake lady". :D

well... since i adore you sooooo much i guess you can come visit... as long as they are short visits cause part of me being that crazy lady is a hermetic lifestyle... a recluse. someone that every points at and talks about but realllly doesn't have any info on cause she's soooooo odd and alone. they do, however come over with a gift of mice or ratties in exchange from some sage wisdom and a reading. ;)

of course rumours WOULD circulate as to who exactly was eating the mice!

My friend just had to put down one of his old female Boa's. She was old and was slowly dieing.

I adopted a 16 year old rescure. I'm 21 so she's pretty old.

One of my good friends had his ball python (Zeus) for 33 years before he died. It was sad, ted was 46 when zeus died and had had him since he was 13. Im not exactly shure how long bps can live, but im pretty shure he had died of old age.
