So i'm stuck.
Okay, my boyfriend is away in the National guard for training. he is coming home for Xmas, and i have NO idea what to get him. I have his stocking stuffer (he always complains about not having axe, so i got him body wash, spray, deoderant, matching luufa {sp?}, matching towels, robe and boxers {they are all the same dark blue color as the axe label for Phoenix}). i have NO clue what to get him for a really nice gift. He loves video games, but i want to get him something more personal...something he'll remember forever.
Any suggestions (i hate shopping for men. lol)
Thanks!! I'm just at such a loss here...

Re: So i'm stuck.
What is he into other then video games?
-
Re: So i'm stuck.
well...he's the typical nerd basically. Loves The Sand Man (from spiderman? or superman? i suck at this stuff....), really relaxed guy, loves books too. He loves The Dune series. He enjoys Anime, mainly Naruto.
If you have any more questions about him, let me know.

Ummmmm.... :O ....all that stuff is a "stocking stuffer???" That sounds like something I'd get for my husband. And that'd be his "big gift" for the year, too! Stocking stuffers are decks of cards and chocolate and maybe a DVD movie or something.
Excuse me while I wander off and go tell my 13 year old daughter that she's not allowed to get any older, and not allowed to have any serious boyfriends until she's 30. (Which means never, because she's forbidden from getting any older!)

Re: So i'm stuck.
hahahahahha. I love that. Yeah, i like spending money on the people i love.

Re: So i'm stuck.
I think the Sand Man is from Batman... unless you mean "Sandman" comics--which are by Neil Gaiman? I, too date your run-of-the-mill nerd-boy ;) He's really hard to buy for...mostly because he can buy whatever toys he wants, and usually does. One of those "what do you get the person who has everything" situations :) -- wish I had some advice, but I'm in the same boat.

Re: So i'm stuck.
he's a nerd? like me?
ah yes...in that case....i think I can help
My parents always say "what do you want" and i say "i don't care"...which translates to "i don't like to tell people what i really want"...so what do my parents do in that case? a Best Buy/Comp USA/Barnes & Noble/Circuit City GIFT CARD!!!
that or a get out of jail free card..lol...j/k j/k

Eep. Me three. He's got all these odd eclectic tastes, and has already gotten himself everything he wants and I'm just not familiar enough with the subtleties of his interests. So I think I'm getting him a coffee pot instead. Muy romantic, no?
Amy, for your guy what about something engraved like a lighter or what have you? I got one for my ex-husband and he liked it. They have stores at the mall that will do it, but have big lines at Christmas. Swiss Army knives are -always- cool too. No wait...that's just me. How about a coffee pot? LOL

i was okay with my daughter dating older guys when she was 16 (the older guys were 18) ;) now she's 20 and is with a wonderful guy who's 25... they are a great couple. ;) she's so mature - so she does better with a guy who's a little older... mind you... my hubby is 14 years older than me but we didn't get together until i in my 30's ;)

Re: So i'm stuck.
My husband is hard to buy for because he likes expensive gadgets.
This year?
First four seasons of Smallville on DVD
$30 Starbucks GC
Windstone Editions 'Young Dragon' sculpture
Subscription to 'NewType' an anime magazine
30GBIPod
External Harddrive
A GC to this knife shop so he can get some katanas he's drooled over.
AND a $50 GC to Best Buy.
He's easy to buy for in the sense that all I have to do is walk behind him in a store and write down the 'I WANTS' and by the time we leave I have a notebook filled up, it's just the $$$$$$$$ that runs the problems.
He complains that I'm the hard one to buy for, I don't even have an XMas list made up to give him ideas.
Anyway, back to you Amy.
If you do find a knife for him you can get them engraved with a sweet little messege.
Good luck in your search!

Lol...My standards for guys are pretty high. He's such a gentleman....so respectful (we built our friendship before we ever dated, it makes for a great foundation). I am 16 soon, and he was 18 shortly before he went into the guard...Not too much of a diffrence.

Re: So i'm stuck.
Is there any little saying you two share? Anything you want to say to him? Your anniversary?
-
Re: So i'm stuck.
Go for the bling; is he into jewelry? I got Mark some new earlobe stretchers.
-
Re: So i'm stuck.
He's not into jewlery that much. On the engraving...our 1 year isnt untill May, and i just want to let him know that i love him and i'm proud of him, but i dont want to put that exactly on the knife....i want it worded better...i'll have to come up with something...

Re: So i'm stuck.
how about:
"hey, you and me... work"
:giggle:
-
Re: So i'm stuck.
lmao. ver romantic.

Re: So i'm stuck.
Like some one else said, you can have the day that you started dating engraved on the knife. My sister (18) got her boyfriend (also 18) cloths and like coloan(sp) and just stuff like that.
-
Re: So i'm stuck.
well...we didnt record the exact date that we started dating...we were unofficailly a couple for a while, and we gradually turned into a serious couple...so that wouldn't work. lol.
-
Re: So i'm stuck.
Well on a knife I got my husband once (then he was still my boyfriend) I had them engrave SHMILU= See How Much I Love You.
I also had his wedding ring engraved... I'm an engraving masta!! No, not really but there are lots of short sweet sayings that would convey what you mean.
Another idea is to google it. Type in 'romantic sayings' and I get lots popped up, you can always mix and match a ton of things to make it your own.
I'm a hopeless romantic so I probably spent a bit much timem looking all this up... You should have seen me trying to find ideas for our vows!

Re: So i'm stuck.
