looks good! Just curious as to how it is heated and how long it to tweak it for the proper temps?

Heated with one strip of 4" (I think) flexwatt installed as belly heat. I use a Helix to control the temp. With the weather being how it is here (cold, warm, cold, warm, really cold), I have been checking it every day and tweaking it a few degrees up and down, and I've had it set up for a little over a week. So there really hasn't been an end to the tweaking yet... I should probably get a better thermostat for my oil filled heater.. that might help with the cool side temps.

I've been using a Ranco to control a similar oil-filled heater as you have. Best $50 I've spent on heating in a while. You turn the dial all the way up on the heater, and plug the heater into the ranco. I haven't had to adjust the heater since and it keeps my ambient temps nice and stable.

Man that rack is banging. I need to bone up and get me one of them if it didn't take like 3 months to get it. Good choice and nice looking snakes.

Nope, I was there when she set up and had my hands all over that one! LOL! No dimples! But I see what you mean, I had the same thing happen on one of my Boa's pic's... Posted the pic, then had to go get her back out to make sure her eye was OK! Good Eye!

Hey, I didn't see that earlier... it's hard to tell from the pic if the eye is dimpling or not... I couldn't really tell you yes or no. Laooda took all the snake pics while I worked on the rack. That particular snake is in shed as we speak, so I'll make sure to check out his shed afterward to see if his eye caps came off as well. He has shed well for me before in his old 10-gallon tank, and now he is in the rack, which has higher humidity... so I think he'll be fine.

    Thanks for pointing that out.

Thanks for the advice... I read some similar stuff about this before. Where did you get your Ranco?

Well, a buddy of mine can get them at cost, so I saved a few bucks under retail.

Reptiles Basics carries them as well. They pre-wire them for you also including the cables and a power strip. Well worth it if you don't have a whole lot of experience with wiring. If you aren't totally comfortable with wiring things together, so that's the route I'd go. Otherwise, there are directions included that are pretty straightforward.

From the picture it looks like there is no separation between the bottom of the tub and the flexwatt. Do you get a proper temperature gradient? (specially with paper as substrate)

There are recesses in the shelves that the flexwatt fits in, so there is actually an empty gap between the tub and the flexwatt... I acutally have to keep the flexwatt a little above 94 to get it to reach 94 in the tub.

Thanks again... I got my Helix from RB, and I would jump at giving Rich my money again, so I will go that route.

Those are Sterilite tubs, and if you look at the "After" pic, you will see that I did.

Well Bruno has shed. He definately doesn't have any eye dimples now if he did before.

    Beautiful Rack!

    Now ... more snakes :)

Start early on the order. You never know how many more snakes you'll have in another 9 weeks. :)

Actually, I need another new rack before I get any more new snakes... That rack is already full and I still have other snakes in stray tubs around the house. As for waiting 9 weeks, I think I will only be getting one more rack from that company to stack on top of the one I already have... other than that I am going to try another company that ships orders out in less than one week.

Nice post! I just picked up a boaphile rack myself. It arrived 6 weeks later >.< It's nice looking though. I'm just waiting to feed my babies before I toss em in a new enclosure. How do you like the rack? Where'd you put the probe?

Actually, come to think of it, it was a little bit over 8 weeks.

    Re: Boaphile Rack Installed
I don't have this rack anymore - I switched to RBI racks instead. The rack was nice but the RBI racks are actually more sturdy and arrive a lot sooner than the Boaphile. If I remember correctly there was a hole drilled in the back wall for you to insert your probe through. Then just tape the thermostat probe to the heat tape with aluminum tape and you're set to go.
