Re: BP Courting Behaviour
Oh I never thought to take pics! Good lord I was too excited to even think of that silly me! I've run and set up the cam now Chris but of course they have now dropped their tails back into a natural position and are just staring at each other (well you'd stare too if you had no dang eyelids come to think of it...but I can still hope it's a loving stare right??? :) ). I'll be ready next time though to catch it on cam (lordy why do I know feel like some sort of perv LMAO).

As long as you don't start trying to give them instructions or saying " now look into the lens - make me feel it" you will probably be alright :D

Yes, pictures are awesome.
Re: BP Courting Behaviour
Sometimes females will lift their tail, evert some of the tissue in the cloaca, and then wag their tail when a male is introduced into their space. There are some people that feel this means the female isn't ready, and others that feel this means they are. I have seen it with a few of my girls, and most of the time, the couple was locked up the next morning. I've never seen a male do this though, are you sure he's a he?

Omg Del, LMAOOOOOOOOOOO!
Evan, Malachi is our 100% het albino produced by Adam. I'm pretty confident that when Adam says Mal's a boy, he's a boy LOL. We did see them draping their tails over each other late last night, no lock yet but it seems they may be moving towards that. As we've never bred snakes, we're just a bit unsure of how much courting they do especially when both are inexperienced.
Re: BP Courting Behaviour
Raising tails in the air is normal and part of the courting process ... somewhere, I have pictures of animals locked with their tails raised up high in the air ... finding them is the tricky part ... I'll see what I can do. ;)

Re: BP Courting Behaviour
Thanks Adam. I know I'm probably being a goof being this excited about two snakes doing it but it's fascinating stuff to me this first time out (maybe it always will be). I just very quietly peeked in on them and their tails are sort of intertwined but of course Kyna's body is in a position that I cannot see clearly if that is a lock or not LOL. I'm not going to peek too often though, I promise! :D

If they're laying together with their tails like that they're most likely breeding ... even if you aren't actually seeing a lock ... animals that aren't breeding don't lay like that.

Re: BP Courting Behaviour
Okay is it completely stupid of me to dance madly about my computer room doing the "I think my snakes are gettin it on" dance LOL (the dog is looking at me oddly again!) :carrot:
Re: BP Courting Behaviour
The dog is probably thinking: What about me?!?!
Re: BP Courting Behaviour
