Most of my small ones will usually ball up if spooked. Some of my large one will half-ball up (protect their head), and I have one shy big girl that will ball up if I look at her wrong.

Mine seems to ball up if she's sleepy...which is nice when I'm weighing her...'cause I can just set the "ball" down on the scale and get a quick weight...but if she wakes up, she's constantly trying to slither off the scale tray and explore the shelf its on.

I went ahead and moved this to the bp forum.

I have a couple that will do the slight ball up, but most don't even bother. They're too busy trying to check out everything and go for a cruise.

My pastel male balls up; the others really don't. LaVey just tries to get away; he thinks he's wild. Ginger tries to eat you at first.. Bela hides her head but doesn't ball her body; like an ostritch w/ its head in the sand. The new het, I am not sure; trying not to disturb him too much.
You could be "proper" and call them "Royal Pythons" as per their Latin name.. and who could say they are Not royal?

I have two that consistently ball, one an '06 and one an '05. They are my favorites to photograph (because they aren't crawling away).

My super shy girl will sometimes pull a loose ball, but she's the only one. Everybody else is too big or is otherwise interested in exploring.
