Well...it's officially official...
....we're moving to San Antonio at the end of the year. The Air Force has been stringing us along for a couple of months now, but we got the official paperwork today. The kids' last day of school is Dec 22nd...and either that afternoon, or early the next morning, we'll be pulling out of here and heading to Dallas for a quick Christmas with family...and then down to SA to get moved in and hopefully settled before the new school semester starts.
Not going to be the most relaxing Christmas on record, but probably one of the more memorable ones.
The next six weeks will obviously be pretty darned busy so I may not be around as much as I'd like...but this is my all-time favorite destination for procrastination, so it may not seem all that different to you guys. :P But obviously the last couple weeks of the year and a bit into the New Year, I may be totally unavailable until we're good and settled again. Hopefully it won't take all THAT long, though....depends on actual move-dates and such, which have yet to be determined.
Anyhow....for most, that probably seems an eternity away...but to me, it seems like tomorrow!! So I thought I'd give everyone a heads-up.....

Re: Well...it's officially official...
Hope everything goes smoothly (as possible) for you. Best of luck on the move.

Re: Well...it's officially official...
ah well i hope everything goes as smooth as possible....
do you guys normally have a choice in house selection? if so...buy a nice big house with an extra room so you can buy lots and lots of racks and lots and lots of snakes and and and......... :rolleye2:
everything will work out for the best :D you've got yourself a pretty strong crew here...i think they'll keep us under control while you're gone :)

Whoops! Sorry. Judy, my husband and I are in the Air Force. I'll be moving to San Antonio early next year while he's in Korea. We might bump into eachother one day! :) I hope you have as smooth a transition as possible. Happy Holidays, too!

Re: Well...it's officially official...
Thanks guys!
To answer a few questions...
For the most part, this is a happy place to mvoe to. Moving NOW was not in our original plans because we've moved SO much in recent years. (My youngest kid is four years old, and this will be his fifth state to live in...if you count TX twice, since he was born there) So the timing sucks....but the location couldn't be better.
We've lived in SA before, and already own our house there, which we kept and rented out. (Here's hoping the current tenants vacate in a timely fashion...we don't have much window for error! LOL) So we don't have that added stress of finding a new home. We're familiar with the city already....and all our extended family lives just a few hours up the road in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. So all of that is very exciting.
And Rachel....that rocks that you'll be moving there too! We'll definitely have to hook up and hit some herp shows together!!

Yay! You'll be near me! Sorta... But we can go to some shows together and you're always welcome to come on up to Waco and see my group :)
Glad this is a good move for you Judy!

Re: Well...it's officially official...
Judy,
I hope you have a smooth uneventful move - it sounds like a good move for you guys! Very smart of you to keep your home in SA - that certainly takes one burden off your shoulders (looking for a new home). Hope that your renters are able to vacate in a timely manner for you!
-
Re: Well...it's officially official...
Good luck with the move Judy I hope it goes as smooth as possible.

Re: Well...it's officially official...
Good luck with the move Judy! I'm glad to hear that you will be back on "familiar" territory and I wish you and your family the best! :D :carrot:

Good luck on the move Judy.....

Re: Well...it's officially official...
Congratulations Judy.
Does your husband get a promotion to a new rank/position?
Are you going to be in Randolf AFB, Brooks City Base, or Lackland AFB *(Basic Training only -- base is not open to visitors except for parents of graduating Airmen)?
*(comment for non-military people)
I totally loved my time in San Antonio for the Army at Fort Sam Houston -- Brooke Army Medical Center.

Thanks Akiva!
Hubby was promoted to LtCol back in September...and the new job he's going to will be second-in-command of a special Electronic Warfare squadron. Then the next job after that will be as squadron commander...HOPEfully somewhere in San Antonio...but ya never know.
The house we own is in Converse, near Randolph AFB because that's where we were stationed last....but this time he'll be working out of Lackland, so he'll have a bit of a commute to fuss with this time. (They do have more there than Basic Training...but that's certainly what it's best known for.)
And I'm very familiar with BAMC...when we lived in SA last, Dean had cancer and was treated there...so we spent a LOT of time there over the span of about a year.
It's a bittersweet move because we LOVE Texas and San Antonio.....but we also love Tucson, and were really hoping/expecting to be here longer. It'll be hardest on the kids to be pulled out of school in the middle of the year, but hopefully they'll run into old friends from a few years ago.

Re: Well...it's officially official...
I hate the moving process! I just hate having to go through all those dang boxes. Who knew we accumulate so much stuff!!! :O I sure hope your move is smooth though, and that the kids transition well into their new school.

**shakes head** - "bless her heart"

Re: Well...it's officially official...
I try to comfort myself with the knowledge that I make a heck of a poutine. :P (and don't think I don't get what that southern lady "bless her heart" means LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO)

hehehehehehehehe...
Well...poutine just sounds plain scary to me...and good ol' southern cooking can be yummy, but must be taken in extreme moderation to keep my girlish figure ( :P  )....I'll stick with my favorite Tex Mex cuisine. Alamo Cafe...here I come!!!

Re: Well...it's officially official...
Good Luck, Judy
Hope the move goes well and best of luck with everything.
Now you don't have to worry about the carpet stain :)
SideBar-- frankykeno I see you are a Mich. state fan but live in Ohio, how is that working out this week :)

Now, you know that whacking them on a countertop is inhumane. You should try CO2.

People in this area are nuts! They are literally announcing on the radio that if you have a car with Michigan plates you might want to rent a car to come to Ohio for the game...lordy...people it's a game...only a game...breathe...breathe....LOL
I support the Michigan team just because hey it makes Mike happy (and it's fun to bug Jamie) Personally I think football is an odd sport where grown men stand around for ages, suddenly race madly at each other, bash about for awhile, pat each other on the butt (okay what is up with the butt patting, tight pants thing???), then stand around for awhile again while some fellow in stripes does the funky chicken to give out a penalty which apparently they then DECLINE???? Lordy give me hockey any day of the week! LOL

I tried CO2 but in trying to gas the biscuits I gassed myself, fell into the freaking canned sausage gravy and near died a horrid southern breakfast death!
By the way my all time fav movie is Steel Magnolias. You southern women have it going on with that "bless her heart" thing and the lovely manners and accent (meanwhile you're probably tougher than us northern born broads any day of the week you are just sneaky about it! LOL)
Accccck sorry for hijacking your thread Jude!
