She arrived! (NOW NEEDS A NAME)
She got here safe and sound! I ripped open the box, pulled the bag out, quickly untied it, and there she was flickering her tongue looking at me!

    Very pretty girl!

And of course I got to take a few pictures and my camera battery died! LOL I forgot to charge it last night. DOH!

    And her "bad" eye.

I'll take more pictures of her in a few days after she has settled in. Right now she is checking out her new crib.... trying to excape :colbert:

    I'm now thinking of names.

    Very cute.

First name that came to mind: Lucille Ball. (That is so totally not spelt right). Don't know why. Oh I know! I was reading the Guiness book of world records yesterday and I saw her name.

I have no idea, but she is in the 1300gram range. Her background isn't all that great from what I've been told. Apparently someone had her who didn't know how to care for her. She had a hard time shedding and some how her one eye got that way too when she was still in that persons care. She was then handed off to my friend who had her for a few months.... and well now I have her since I was looking for a female BP and he knows that she would go to a good home with me.

    Thanks!
I actually thought of it because I went to high school with a girl named that. She too had a "funky" eye and I always just LOVED that name. It just fits I think.

Re: She arrived! (NOW NEEDS A NAME)
Her "bad eye" looks like the result of low humidity in her tank/cage. That's nothing too major. proper humidity levels will correct that. Other than that she's very beautiful. good luck with her. any breeding plans?

Re: She arrived! (NOW NEEDS A NAME)
Hehe yeah she's a just a normal. I know when I first started getting into BP's they ALL looked exactly a like except for Pieds & Albinos. Now I'm pretty good at telling them apart.

Re: She arrived! (NOW NEEDS A NAME)
    Steven,

If that was her problem then wouldn't it be affecting both of her eyes? I know she had left over eye caps stuck on her eyes. Her one eye looks pretty normal but the other is the way it is.

As for breeding.... hopefully next season she'll have a date with Sebastian and hopefully Sebastian will have a date with my friends Pied girl to see if he is a carrier of the het gene or not.

Yeah it does but it doesn't seem to effect her at all. I love her even if she is blind in one eye!

Saharah is a great name! One of my girls is Saraha, but as of tomorrow she'll become Cara (she's going to live with Frankykeno).

Re: She arrived! (NOW NEEDS A NAME)
I recently got a large female with a retained eyecap and I used hand lotion with no fragarance on her eye for a coulple of days and it came off without me even messing with it. My friend at reptile depot told me to do it and it worked like a charm. Prior to that both of us tried to get it off and it wouldn't budge. Soaking is great but good luck getting the snake's head to stay in the water. I've also made humidity boxes with plastc bowls with a lid with hole on top and filled with damp (not dripping wet) moss. The moisture and rubbing on the moss helps release the old skin. Go luck with her I'm sue she's gonna be a much happier girl now. :snake:

Re: She arrived! (NOW NEEDS A NAME)
She has a Saturday vet appointment since I here a little light wheeze in her when she breaths. I'm not sure if it's just stuck skin, or if there is something more going on with her. Either way I love my vet and I'm sure he'll be able to help her out with her eye problem too.

Re: She arrived! (NOW NEEDS A NAME)
Oh she's a darling girl and what a lovely name you've chosen! Hopefully all will go well with the vet and even if that eye is permanently damaged I'm sure she'll do just fine since they really don't rely on their sight all that much for hunting, etc.
