Wow! That's a lot of vinyl! There's a music store across the street from my work and I get all my stuff from them. They get in some killer stuff. I picked up a copy of Metallica's "Garage Days Re-revisited" SEALED for 25.00 from them.

Re: I like rocks...
We have some really cool stuff. Original pressings, colored vinyl, special inserts, etc. Vinyl can be fun to collect. I am now digitizing (with the help of my son) all of the good stuff -- So that we can put it on our iPods.

Laooda, Do you ever get to pursuit your interests out in the field? (rock collecting) You never know what you will find when you uncover a ROCK. ;)

Re: I like rocks...
I have a small rock collection as well. Mostly unusual rose rocks, petrified wood, and some stone tools/projectile points.

Very cool! At one time, a long, long time ago, I had ALL their albums! Also, many years ago, my cousins were in Branson, MO and Table Rock lake. They ran into the whole group in Branson, and ended up partying on the lake with them. My cousin had a nice boat at the time, and they all went out on the lake together. I scolded my cousin severely for not calling me so I could come up there!!!

Re: I like rocks...
This might sound odd, but I collect whips. I do sport whip cracking. There are a bunch of different cracks and tricks you can do with whips as well as targeting. I can turn a lightswitch on and off with a whip. The longest I am currently working with is a 7' bullwhip - although I have cracked up to a 14'. Borrowed that one to try - I can't afford one yet. Good quality whips are very expensive. The funny thing is that one of the things that got me interested was the snakey way they move. A good quality "snake" whip looks almost alive and has a very fluid snakey movement. One day it dawned on me that if I liked that snakey quality maybe I'd like a real snake.

Re: I like rocks...
What's the cost on a high quality whip?
-
Re: I like rocks...
You can get a good quality beginner whip for $150 - $300 and from there it's like anything one collects - quality, beauty, materials, the reputation of the whipmaker - you can go into the thousands. The best quality are kangaroo hide, 16 plait and above and very often custom made in Australia. I would be looking in the $500 range personally. The price varies depending on the materials used, the type (bull, snake, signal, stock) and of course the length.

Re: I like rocks...
Swords, here. I only have a couple---just started getting into this stuff. I have replicas of Narsil, Sword of Elendil, as well as the Sword of Strider (both of these from The Lord of the Rings). I also have a replica of Conan the Barbarian's sword (it's freaking huge!).
This is the only one I have up here right at the moment---it's Narsil:

My Strider sword is hanging up in my bedroom in Indiana, while Conan's sword ended up in my dad's office---go figure

And for the original owner of this thread:

I bought this from a gypsy in Transylvania, Romania. Probably paid too much for it, lol, but it was a piece of the country to take home with me. I thought it was pretty.

Re: I like rocks...
Ooh! I have an orchid, any tips? It's been growing fairly quickly and had a few blooms, but it hasn't bloomed again. Should probably repot it and fertilize it... Let me know please! I don't want my dear mother to kill it.
I collect... Mary's Moo Moos, little cow figurines(they're cute, shut up). I also collect netsukes(have a little crab one made of ivory and a snake one made from ironwood). Have a few river stones from Austin and other places. I also have too many snake tubs in my garage...

Rosenthal, Llrado, Royal Copenhagen etc. Too many to mention. Over 50 seperate collections with some overlap. Yes the house looks like a museum. We decided not to go for the bigger house so we are looking into all types of organizers and shelves. We are unpacking again so huge mess. MUST DUST SOMETHING EVERY DAY! AUGH!!

Re: I like rocks...
Let me know what kind of orchid you have? if you know or a description of plant and flowers. The correct lighting is important but there are differnt kinds with different requirements. Most only bloom once a year or every 8-9 months but it depends. Anyone feel free to private message me if you need orchid help.
P.S. reptiles love the greenhouse, I think its the plants, very relaxing.

Re: I like rocks...
Mrs. Godess! I've got a few skulls that I'll snap a few pic of later... I think you'll like them?

Re: I like rocks...
I collect fossils and rocks. I love to go to lake michigan to collect my own fossils. In fact, in my own back yard I have found shell and plant fossils. My favorite fossils are trilobites.
While I don't have any orchids now, I do plan on growing them when I have my own house. I absolutely love them. The paphio orchids with the long coiling petals just make me melt to look at. I am also a big fan of bromeliads and many other exotic plants.
I also have a rather sizable coin collection. Everything from ancient Roman coins, foreign coins from everywhere and many old US coins. I've got an American penny from 1803.. it's huge. lol

I dont know much about coins, but my grandfather collected them, and we apparently have a lot of them that are worth a lot of money. I have no idea how to ID them, or what to think of them. lol.

Re: I like rocks...
We have a couple of swords (um....5?), 4 of which we bought in Edinburgh: a replica broadsword, a replica celtic dagger, handmade one and half hand bastard sword (MINE!) and a handmade two hand claymore. Both the handmade ones were made in Edinburgh from recycled wrought iron - they're gorgeous and weigh a freakin' ton...fun to chase each other around the house with them. =D
They're hanging in our theatre room on a gorgeous piece of blackwatch virgin wool tartan - that now has holes in it. Ah well, i got it cheap - along with a cheapie replica Toleda crappy short sword I picked up when I was doing Renn faires.
But yeah, cutting implements are big with me. My bigger (and scarier) collection is scissors and shears. I probably have 50 pairs, all of which I used to display in my apartment. My biggest have 14" blades and weigh about 7lb - <3 that one. =)
They're all mostly boxed up atm as I have no where to display them but if I get bored someday, I'll drag'em out and take pictures for you guys.
