    Breeding forumla??
    Hello Everyone,

I have a pair of adult black blood pythons and I cannot get them to breed.

I am just wondering what is the best formula to use in order to breed them, ie, temps, humidity, etc.

    They are correctly sexed.

    Thanks
    Nick

    How old are they?

I'd check out NERD's blood python and boreno short tail python caresheets. There is a small blurb on breeding those, since Black bloods are related to those two species and are from the same general climate/area.

First off, are you 100% sure they're correctly sexed? Short-tails are notoriously tricky to sex - females have big scent glands that are easily mistaken for hemipenes...if you're not familiar with sexing bloods you could have 2 females or 2 males...how deep does each one probe?

Secondly, how big are these snakes & what do they weigh?

Thirdly, how are they set up & what are you doing to induce breeding? Male short-tails are usually studs...champion breeders that will typically screw anything without legs in possession of a cloaca. Sure, there are shy breeders out there, but most of the time they don't need tons of prompting...

Perhaps some additional details are in order instead of snarky repartee.

But hey, what do I know...

    Hey Kara,

You know ALOT! I have placed them together. One is a male for sure, I probed him and sperm plug came out.

They have not fought, but maybe bloods dont fight?

These are large snakes, def. sexually mature. I have them set up in freedom breeders with humid hides.

I have been cooling them down and misting them at night.

This is my second year trying them.

Maybe I should have someone, (you) sex them??? haha

    Thanks
    Nick
