    Wine Cooler/Incubator
Well I'm very happy to say that I got a 20 bottle Wine cooler today with a glass door...this wine cooler is NICE! It has a built in thermometer (which i don't know if i'm going to use yet) It's already got 2 holes, one for the thermometer and one for the freon tube (I guess :confuzd:)

Anyway, i've been on the look out for a wine cooler for some time, and i'm very happy with this. I started stripping it down earlier today just to see how it all works and I know it will work out for the best, but now i have a big problem!!

I have to some how find a way to drain the freon! I've googled, I've read about it, i've done a lot but I can't find anyone around me to drain the freon...I don't wanna break any laws and cut the line, because it is pretty illegal...any suggestions for me?

Take it a repair shop. They will suck it dry for ya! Congrads on your sweet inc! If you happen to accidently open the line yourself DO NOT let the freon be exposed to your skin, it will burn oh so badly

Could you not just cover the frieon tube up? And leave it in there? Or is it to dangerous?

thanks guys I will try that.

I would prefer to remove the freon because I want to plug in the wine cooler so I can see the temp...it also comes with a light on the top that gives the inside that really nice glow...

I also want to remove the freon and all the hardware for it because it will reduce the weight.

We have a wine fridge...but we actually use it for wine...I got it at Home Depot for about $200 if I remember correctly.
I also want to find one to use as an incubator.....I have my eyes on craigslist, and keep talking about hitting up stores for scratch and dent stuff.....good luck with it Nathan, let me know how it turns out.

well from the way this thread reads it seems to takin a few twist on a path i dont think i even wanna know about :P

any ways just thought i would add :2cent: in on this ...
i'm not sure about where you all live, but there is a site called freecyclethat ppl post things they are no longer in need of or want. you can also post things you are in need of or looking for on it.

i have seen many offers on the one i belong to of now working freezer/frigs that would be great to use to make incubators out of (if i had that many snakes that is), but it may be something you may want to check into.

the cost of gas to go pick one up vs. buying new to chop it up tuff call

hope this is of some help :)

I haven't decided if i will use it...more than likely not. I will put an acurite in just to keep a second eye on everything. The really nice thing about this wine cooler is it has 2 holes in it, one for the thermometer and one for the freon tube..so i won't have to do any unnecessary drilling to get my flexwatt wires or thermostat probe in there.
