My Butter Died

I bought a f/t pinkie at Petland on Tuesday. I fed this girl last night. Tonight when I went to check on her, she was dead.
This was my favorite corn.

Im very sorry to hear that. I wonder what the cause was?

thats a gorgeous looking corn, its really too bad. maybe it was a bad pinkie or it coulda just been her time.

It had to be the feeder. I fed everyone that night but she got one from Petland because I didn't have enough in the freezer to go around.

My other corns are fine and so are the 2 BP's that ate that night.

i am so sad right now. when i say the pic of your butter last week i fell in love... and now to hear this... i'm soooo sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear about your loss, any idea how the pinkie could have caused the sudden death? My corn and king are both pretty small still and I'm petrified that they are going to get sick because they seem so frail.

Another thing I forgot to add last night.

When I buy my feeders, I buy them all LIVE then I kill them when I get home. That way I know I'm not buying a "bad" frozen feeder that died from some unknown reason and just got thrown in the freezer.

I knew someone who bought a frozen mouse for her snake and the same thing happend to her poor snake.

I never thought to do that. Hmm. I wonder why it ended up in the freezer there?

I ran out of my Rodent Pro frozen ones. I am making another order tonight to avoid ever having to go there again.

I called them today and spoke with the manager and explained what happened (well first I had to explain what a butter corn was) and he just told me "sorry, not my problem but he has a corn for sale if I want it".

THAT ticked me off. Do these guys work on comission or something?

He seemed nice up until he tried to sell me a replacement corn.

Don't even deal with those kind of people. They just want to make a sale in the end and they don't care how you feel, or about the animal.

Glad not all pet stores are like that. Some are good.

I just spoke with the person who bred this snake. I do not hold him responsible for the death. It looks like a fluke thing to me. Either it was not meant to survive or I ended up with a bad food item the other day. I am taking responsibility for what happened.

I'm so sorry to read of the loss of your lovely butter corn Steve. It's gawd awful to lose any of them for any reason but even worse to not be sure what caused it. Hugs big guy...I'm sorry you lost your little scaley friend this way. :(

How does a pinky "go bad" and kill a snake, is it from being diseased, or from thawing out and starting to rot and then being re-frozen and then fed to a snake. Those are the only two things I could come up with. I'm hoping someone can explain so others can try to avoid these problems and not suffer the same loss.
