    Gloves
I know this might be a long-shot, but I figured I can't be the only one allergic to latex.

I was wondering if anyone knew where to find some non-latex gloves that I can wear while cleaning the snakes enclosures. Currently cleaning involves having to move everything and dumping it in the tub to be rinsed without being touched, but I would rather be able to pick things up first. My problem is I can find anything that is non-latex, and it's driving me crazy.

I was cleaning out a glass aquarium last night that I had just bought, and ended up having to wear latex rubber gloves, so that was no fun (it was too heavy for me to lug by myself to the bathroom), and since it is going to be Pips new home, I figured I should atleast look into it. So I only have to do the lugging every few weeks when a full disinfecting shall take place.

I'm more looking for stores where I can just go and pick some up instead of ordering offline. I've checked one Wal-Mart, Zellers, and the general drug stores, but all have latex in them. Any other ideas?

You'd be surprised how much stuff latex is in. I can't use Aloe. LOL. There is a great beauty supply shop here in town, I'll check that out as soon as I can (of course, it has to be on the other side of the city from me, but oh well, it's near some places I like to shop so I'll just stop in the next time I'm shopping).

I have a weak immune system and a lot of open cuts on my hands at any given time. I'm just lucky I haven't gotten sick yet. :sabduel:

If you look in the vet catalogs (Doctores Foster and Smith, Valley Vet) and a lot of horse supply sites they have non latex gloves available. My sister is quite alergic to it as well so we had to do some shopping around. If you're interested let me know and I'll see if I can't track down the exact URLs to pm you.

You're looking for Vinyl Gloves! I just checked out eBay and they have tons on there for sell. You can get powdered or unpowdered as well. They are sold under the Health Care & Lab category adn the Food Industry category.

    Good Luck!

WOW, i never thought that my meat cutting job would help anyone out here. BUT if you go to your local butcher shop(grocery store) ask them to buy a box of gloves off of them, we use them when helping cutomers. when i order them there only 4.25 a box. i get alot of deer hunters coming in and asking for them. they should only charge you what they pay for them. thats what i do when people ask me... hope that helps.:) Don't for get to thank your local butcher!!!!:)

there are special condoms that you can order from an "adult store". Or the female could use a diaphram.
sorry if that was out of place, but you asked. lol.

There are non-latex condoms, though they aren't as effective protecting against STDs. Personally I don't sleep around, so that isn't too much of an issue. Then there are other types of BC, but I have issues this those too (high risk of clots and strokes, allergic to copper...). It can be done, but it is more expensive!

He could use lambskin condoms...More expensive but thinner giving you and your partner more sensitivity. lol

As far as gloves go...I'm sure theres somewhere online that sells non-latex..
    Good luck!

    Re: Gloves
I think our walmart sells nitril gloves (the blue ones). Also we can usually find the foodhandler type gloves at the dollar tree and some other dollar stores. They are some type of plastic and are just cut out out of two layers and fused around the edges. Also i KNOW our walmart sells deer field dressing gloves this time of year (like food handler gloves but shoulder length) those are a little pricey though. With the immune issue i would wear two pair of the food handler type, but in my oppinion nitrile are a MUCH better glove than latex any day.

haha. yeah, and i know i mentioned diaphrams, dont use those though, they are only 85% effective, and it has been proven that sperimicide can be harmful to the female...

but enough of the sex talk....
yeah, any place that has gloves should have an assortment, try calling before you run out and get it though. lol.
