Out on the lawn..
Marky was walking Emma and Cuesta, and I had to snap a few shots! These are from this morning.
Here's my fat, healthy girl. She was a bag of bones before we got her last year; here she is, recovered from raising her foal, and ready for life. :)

And Emma, daddy's little dirt ball. ;) I proudly proclaim that horses need to roll in mud to be sane and keep grooms busy. :) I actually groomed her to within an inch of her life a few minutes ago. She too has gained weight nicely after her colt's weaning; I promised both of them that they'll never be bred again.

Re: Out on the lawn..
Thanks! I don't know why I am som concerned with Emma's weight; she is just built lighter than Cuesta (who could be mistaken for a tank, hehe.) I do give Emma a tad more grain than Cuesta, just because she is a "worrier" and tends to get high-strung about everything from deer wandering by, to a bag blowing around the pasture.. Cuesta hardly bats an eye at these things.

Thanks! Here are a few older shots of her eyes; they make her always look like she's on red-alert (but she usually is, hehe.)

They were actually both registered Paints. Emma's owners left her at my friend's farm and skipped the state, oweing her a ton of board money; she sent them the required registered-mail letters, and ownership reverted to her, and she sold her to us. Unfortunately her papers went with the deadbeats. We got legal ownership of Emma on Halloween 2005.
Cuesta was also registered; her dam was said to me, to me Bad Reputation. She had papers but my friend lost them; I believe this all only because I can see her bloodlines in her appearance. This makes little sense to me b/c if the papers were not lost, and she was making this up, why would she lowball herself on the price; she would have gotten more for a registered horse. We brought Cuesta home last December.. that makes it almost a year! We traded a brand new log splitter for her, that we didn't need when we didn't put in a woodstove!!
It is kind of odd that both of Emma's eyes are blue; most horses I see w/ blue eyes, only have them blue if they're white in the face, but Emma's eye on the brown side is blue!

It makes her eyes pop even more on the dark side.
Paints are beautiful. I think my favorite is a palamino TWH. And then a paint TWH. ;3 I just like the walkers.

Re: Out on the lawn..
Walkers/saddlebreds are gorgeous.. my friend just took in a SB filly who was practically starved to death; she is about a year old and is roughly the size of the weanlings we sold, only skeletal.. not to mention, she is completely blind. I feel so bad for neglected/unwanted horses.. makes me go out and feed our girls more treats just to show them they're loved.
Emma was slaughter-bound; her companion mare, who was pretty wild, went that route along with some other horses she was abandoned with.

Re: Out on the lawn..
Ginevive, JEEZE! My friend's family owns mustangs, all rescues. A curly coat, Nikki, had a hernia and almost died. My friend's mother bought her when she was on death's doorstep. She was skin and bones but they pulled her through it.
One of their other horses, Casey, they sent to a trainer. They found out later the trainer was abusing Casey, and it took them YEARS before he'd let anyone even sit on his back. They still cannot actually ride him to this day.
