am very happy because finaly i breed my balls after severl years waiting. see the pictures

How much does the female weigh - don't know if it's just the pictures, but they look small to me.

the male is 1.5 year old and female 3 but bad eater.

You shouldnt go by years of age, but weight of the animals... if they are problem feeders then that also should be fixed before all breeding attempts are tried... Snakes must be at weight, because if the female is not she can end up pregnant and if not at a certian weight she can die.

For her sake....hopefully nothing.

Well........you really should have done up some more studying on breeding first. The female is very small compared to what she needs to be. I understand that after reading all the posts about breedings and seeing the pics, you get excited and what to join in. There is nothing wrong with that, however you need to make sure your snakes are at a point that they can safely be bred without putting them at risk. I know you dont want to hurt your snakes, but by breeding a female at such a small weight you may have! Maybe, just maybe your breeding wont take and you can feed up that female to a better weight before trying this again.

We are not trying to discourage you from breeding. We just want you to do it the right way and not loose your female or end up with a clutch of tiny hatchlings that wont make it. It takes a lot out of a female to do this.......yours probably doesnt have enough there to do the job..........:(

Please keep us all updated on the progress of this......there are many many people here that are more then willing to help you out, however you must ask questions and be prepared to do what they advise!

Whoa not even close to being able to breed and produce eggs.I suggest you stop the breedings and wait until she is over 1500+ grams.

i have not prepare my bp pair for breeding. no photoperiod and i have not do any temp change. so i know that my female will not produce any eggs. i just put the male to do sex with my female:P
i know many on bp breeding and i know i make small mistake to but it together.

That's extremely unlikely ... most of the egg bound female ball pythons that I've seen over the years were actually egg bound because they were too big ... smaller girls normally just don't follow through with follicular development to the of insemination.

But anything is possible I guess.

I do not cool down my ball pythons nor change anything and i have produced ball python babies 2yrs in a row.So you can not say you know she will not produce for sure.

Snakes don't need a photoperiod or temp drop in order to reproduce

This is not an acceptable way for members to treat other members. We have members from all over the world, and it just so happens that English is not the first language in a few countries. :rolleyes: Rather than make fun of people, we should respect the fact that they at least can communicate in a language they are not native to...as opposed to most Americans.

Disagree with how someone chooses to keep their animals, if you truly feel the animal's well being is at stake...but do not make fun of the individual.

Adam I really expected more from a "pro" breeder........why would you throw gas on a fire like that........this person really needs to be guided not praised for making a huge mistake.

Snakes whether brumated or not, whether the right age/size or not......can and will become gravid and produce eggs.......normally with negative outcomes. Females too small can and will produce.....yet usually all dead eggs (slugs) and can and have died during egglaying or shortly there after. To put snakes together for "sex" is not a good idea.......snakes unlike people only "sex" to reproduce......so unless you have come up with some kind of snake birth control, you have put your snakes at risk as well as yourself. You could loose any money, time and effort you have put into these animals. I am starting to think you done this full well knowing you were in the wrong and posting it here has caused people to take away from other topics and helping other people.........If in fact you have just made a mistake that is fine........learn from it and move on.......please do not post anymore comments about you know what you are doing if you dont! We will help you all that we can, however there has to be a line drawn here to keep this forum running the way it was meant to be.

Where did I "praise" anyone ... I stated fact based on my experience with ball pythons ... nothing more ... I did not endorse nor condemn the actions of the original poster, just shared information as I know it ... get over yourself.

For whatever it's worth, I'm not a "pro" breeder ... I'm just a guy that's been working with ball pythons for over 25 years now ... I have seen 700 gram females that were bred later go on to lay small clutches of eggs that were viable and hatched ... I've also seen 3500 gram females become egg bound and die ... I speak from real, hands on experience with ball pythons and as always I stand by everything that I said.

You obviously don't have a lot of experience with ball pythons ... while this may or may not be true for other species of snakes, ball python females that are underage and/or under weight do not commonly ovulate ... the physiology or most boids will not allow it ... With members of the Colubridae family, it's a whole different story ... maybe that's why you're confused?
