man sorry to hear that jake.
HEY...why is my post 1st???

Dang Thiefs
We're in the process of building a new house and today I saw something that shocked me. We drive by before school and the garage is wide open. No big deal? Someone had kicked in the basement door, covered all the windows and raided the place. They only took off with $2,000 in carpet, a new flatscreed Plama T.V. and a washer and drier. The new garage floor was covered in oil from their leaking truck. I had to leave for school before the police got there. It was cold so I woulf think they were wearing gloves. The alarm was suposed to be finished and armed today. Lets hope everything gets covered with insurance. Not to mention the construction insurance was only in effect until 9 AM central time. We are suposed to move in this weekend too!!!
SOME PEOPLE!!!!

Thanks, the conviction rate for new construction thieves are very low so I doubt they will find anything. There were tire marks but I doubt they really do much

Re: Dang Thiefs
That's HORRIBLE!!! I just don't understand how some people think they can just take oother people's STUFF! ***blood pressure just rose*** lol... Sorry, best of luck!

Re: Dang Thiefs
If you can prove that the crime took place before 9AM, the theft would probably be covered under you contractor's builders risk policy. Before you cough up the deductible for your homeowners insurance, I'd call the contractor's claims adjuster and get that ball rolling. Nag them enough and they'll pay....

Re: Dang Thiefs
 Burglars!? I hope they NEVER come near me, LOL. I have some weapons waiting... ;)
I hope you guys catch the idiots.

Re: Dang Thiefs
Jake - so sorry that happened to you. I think what makes me angrier is the idiots that feel that they are somehow entitled to possessions that aren't theirs! Karl's SUV was broken into a couple years ago and his stereo stolen. My car tag was stolen off my car by someone in my building (on the back side) who drove the exact model car as mine and I caught it a month later when I saw the car drive by and went "I KNOW that tag!" It's infuriating!
Needless to say, in MY case with the tags, it was quite satisfying to see the cops surround his car to block it in, and then tow it, after searching it and finding 10 different aliases in his car.

Re: Dang Thiefs
why were all those items in the house already? normally you cannot start putting your own possessions in until ownership is transferred to you. once it's in your ownership, insurance begins immediately.
i'm so sorry to hear this happened to your family :(

A lot of times houses come fit with appliances or other "fixtures" including washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge, stove, etc...
Nowadays, a lot of people building homes are doing custom wall-mounting for flat screen TVs with all of the wiring built into the walls by the contractor.
Not sure of his particular situation, but all of those contractor installed items (including the TV) could be considered to be fixtures of the house and not fall under "personal property" as you mentioned.

Re: Dang Thiefs
That is horrible:eek: I hope that the contractors insurance covers your losses and that they catch the jerks who stole your stuff:sabduel: Beat them when they find them:D

Re: Dang Thiefs
Jake...that is such a terrible thing! There are some real slimeballs in this world, that's for sure. I hope all the insurance stuff works out in your favor...and I hope that justice finds those idiots and gives 'em exactly what they deserve.

Hence the reason I like to keep my shotgun nearby and a .45 that rings loud when needed.

Re: Dang Thiefs
Been SOOOOOO Busy lately. Looks like there were 3 more things they got as well
A wall safe new in the box
A large dehumidifer(wall used to weak)
A Case of flood lights worth $140
Either they needed a bunch of flood lights for their house or they have a monitor lizard!!!
The police said there were about 4 people there. Its just a good thing dad didn't go check on the house while they were there on his way to work.
Looks like these bastards got away clean....

The homeowners may cover it. I guess homeowners also started on the 1st. They should cover what builders won't
