Tub sizes and when to up?
Just wanted to know about what weights and lengths you guys up tub sizes. Just like an estimate for example
    Hatchling-24" what size tub?
    24"-36"- in what tub size?
    36"-48" in what tub size?
    48"+ in what tub size
Just curious. Found a decent deal on a few females and I need to get a rack system started this week.
    Thanks in advance

I put hatchlings in shoebox tubs (4-6 quart depending)
I put 400-800 grams in 12 quart tubs
I put 600-1800 grams in 28 quart tubs

Breeding size + females in 41 quart systems

Would it be ok to put under 600 grams in 28 qt. tubs do you think?

Pork Chops! I house 2 male bp's that weigh 140-160grams in 28 qt tubs and they are both thriving happy little buggers!

400-800 grams in a 12qt tub... sounds mean IMO. Then again I can't even house my 2 males (referred to above) in anything under there 28 qts. There to active.

    Hope I helped :)

Ball pythons thrive in tight spaces from what I understand, so those dimentions from Snake...... are fine I think. I use 6qt tubs for bps under 300g, 31qt for 300 and up.

I'm going to hopefully pick up enough tubs to get the rack system built and then buy the extra tubs as I need them. I know balls are said to do better in more crampt conditions compared to lets say redtails which do fine in larger cages. Are the sizes in height on the tubs with or without lids?

Sorry man, but 400-800 grams is not mean for a 12 quart tub in a rack system. I dont use hides in the rack systems in these smaller tubs.

IMO keeping a 140 gram baby in a 28 quart tub seems kinda mean, though I guess if you have 2 hides they can deal :)

You have to remember what BP's natural habitats are when considering the size of tub. My biggest snake in a 12 quart right now is 650 grams.

So if I made a rack system that held all 28 qt. tubs and got all 500+ gram balls I would likely be ok as long as I used hides?

    birth thru 600-700 gramish - 9.5 x 3.5 x 21.5
    700+ grams - 17 x 5.25 x 33

The less you move them, the better.

Without ... tubs with lids in racks are a pain in the ace (in my humble opinion).

Wow I'm starting to think I have used up all this room in my room for nothing...

    Questions...

So I have take my children and put them in 12qt tubs until they are about 600 grams?

What about gradient heat? Can I just warm the tub up until the ambient temp of the entire 12 qt is 88-92???

What about hides? With tubs that small should I still use a hide?

If you use two hides in a 12 qt there would no absolutely no room for a water bowl?

And if you use 1 water bowl and 1 hide your going to leave no room for movement... other that on top of the hide and water bowl correct?
