oh lord...you all warned me about this...

okay, so i just got my second snake. They are so frieking addicting after that:rolleyes:. I thought that snake racks were totally pointless, but now i want another snake, and i know why you all have them. haha. Anyways...so i want to breed in the future, my normal male is a an '05, and i want to get him a future breeding mate. What type of morph do you guys think i should get? or, should i not even invest in a morph at all, and stick with a normal? I love a lot of morphs, Super Pastels are my favorite, Pieds, Hypos, and Axanathic.
Any suggestions from people that have gone through this before?

Haha.. a budding herpaholic.

Get whatever morph you like best.. dominant genes are nice because you can produce morphs in the first season. Pastels are a common first choice in a morph.

I would get a female pastel then breed the to in 2010 or 09 and you will get a 50/50 split of normals and pastels then breed a pastel male to your female and you may get a super

if i get a super and breed her to my male what will i get?
I am so bad with genetics...

Super bred to normal = all pastels.

haha. tell me about it. I am the same way with horses, but they are more expensive...i can handle only having one of those, but snakes, they are so darn cute, and not as expensive to keep, and i LOVE trying to keep the temperatures regular. It is a real joy for me! (not being sarcastic. lol)

A super pastel breed to a normal would give you all pastels.

It take 2-3 years to raise a female ball python to breeding size, so make a choice that you can be happy with for that time ;)

or you may do the albino morph idea buy 2 hets breed the hets and hopefully you will produce a albino or you can do what I am doing buy a pastel female and spider male then breed them produce bumble bees and sell or trade for a piebald or axathic

Hah yeah I am a horseaholic too, but I can only afford one of those right now. lol I have a TB gelding too.

haha. thanks a lot! I really like albinos too! Its such a toss up! I wish there was a wildcard BP, that would produce a whole bunch of morphs, you just didnt know what untill they were hatched. haha. Anyways, I really want a super, but i think the price is way out of my range (thats another thing i have to consider...). If i was to get a pair, i would get a pair of Het.Pieds, but i really dont want 2 more snakes. I have another tub, which is enough for 1 snake, and i cant afford food for 4 snakes just yet. I am getting a second job in December though, sooo you all know what im probably going to do with my extra money. haha.




edit- i just played around with that site. the most ideal thing for what i want would be to have a pastel and a super, and breed those, buttt i am not planning on getting two snakes at the moment, like i said. Ill get a pastel, a super if i can afford one. lol.

Mine is going to be 7 January 13th, a dark bay. started his racing training, but luckily never finished!

well good luck of what you chose to do pastel females are now only about $800 and pair pied hets are about $1200 just to let you know and it is hard to chose I cant wait to get my spider and het albino saturday then pastel the 16th

My guy is 19.. had him for 5 years. Fleabitten grey ex race horse.. 16.3 hands. We used to do jumper, but now more dressage.

cool! im a big NH person (natural horsemanship)...I do love jumping and dressage, im definatley not a western person! mine is only 15.3hh. a little small for a TB:cool:

I am still not sure. The only thing that i know for sure is that i dont want to get more than one more snake. And i love albinos and pastels. I have contacted a few breeders, and am asking about prices and payment plans. Ill make sure to let you all know what i decide to do for sure...when i know. lol.
